Monday Night Dancing club will
entertain with a formal dinner
dance on Saturday night, March

with dancing following between
9 and 12 o'clock with Claude Bird's
orchestra engaged to play.

ard Pickett, and Mr. and Mrs. Ray
mond Kelly. The last dinner dance
of the season will be on April 9.

A recreational meeting of the
Business and Professional Wom
an's club and friends will be held
at the Salem Woman's club
house March 18 at 7:30 o'clock.

Girl Scout Camp
Plans Outlined
Plana are rapidly taking shape
for Girl Scouts camping at Smith
Creek this summer, according to
Mrs. W. D. Sloper, Santiam Area
camp chairman. The camp, owned
by the state of Oregon will be
rented by the Council from July 1
to August 21. Pre-camp training
will start for staff members on
July f, and camp sessions will start
on July 10. This year's schedule
will include 2 one-week sessions
for Brownie Scouts,! 2 one-week
sessions for intermediate scouts,
and one two-week session for in
termediate and senior scouts. This
summer's schedule will allow for
about 08 more campers to enjoy
camp life than was possible last
year.
Girls are already savins for
camp with camp savings stamps
In many troops, ; and troops are
electing representatives to meet as
Junior Camp committee to make
suggestions for the camp program.
Camp program this summer will
stress outdoor hiking and camping
overnight. Girl Scouts of Salem arc
also planning day camping to sup
plement the established camp.
The camp committee is asking
for contributions toward a camper
ship fund so that deserving girls
who are unable to pay all the camp
fee may be enabled to attend camp.
Anyone interested in contributing
to the fund should contact Mrs.
Frank Manbeck, .640 Saginaw, for
further information.

Has Birthday
A group of Mick Campbell's
friends honored him on his seventh
birthday Saturday afternoon at a
party at the Argyle Drive home of
his parents, Dr. and Mrs. Lewis P.
Campbell, jr. Movies were shown
by the hosts and later birthday
cake was served.

vine, Barton McSherry, Robert
Wood, Doug White, John Heise,
John Hughes, Gregory Stadter,

Surprise the
Stewarts
A group of Salem friends motor
ed to Portland Saturday night to
surprise Mr. and Mrs. Clifford
Stewart, who recently moved
there from Salem, with a house
warming party at their residence
on N. E. 73rd street. Bridge was in
play during the evening with a
late buffet supper served by the
group. They also presented the
Stewarts with a gift for their new
home.
Honoring the Stewarts were Mr.
and Mrs. Bruce VanWyngarden,
Mr. and Mrs. Ollie Williams, Mr.
and Mrs. Glen Fravel, Mr. and
Mrs. Otto J. Wilson, all of Salem,
and Mr. and Mrs. Edwin McWain

at the clubhouse at 1:30 o'clock
on Tuesday for coffee, and a
