Martin, Jr., Mrs W. JerryScott, Miss Thais Crandall and Miss Olga Stefanick. Rosanne Clark (Mrs. Charles) will be the commen tator and the Willamette uni versity string quartet will play while the styles are being shown. Featured in the show will be spring sports clothes, suits, coats, casuals, informal and evening gowns. Mrs. Harold Heiserman is chairman of the affair with Mrs. W. Jerry Scott as co chairman. Benefit Thursday On this week's slate is th Salem Woman's . club benefit card party at the clubhouse on Thursday afternoon. A dessert luncheon will be served at on o'clock with bridge, pinochle, or other card games in play. The benefit is to raise money to assist the scholarship loan fund of the federation. The engagement of Miss Arleen Frogley tJ Keith Olson was announced on Sat- urday night during the Delta Zeta sorority house dance on the Oregon State college campus. The news was told when lights went bff just before intermission to reveal the names of the engaged couple in luminous paint on a large red heart. ? The bride-elect, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. O. C. Frogley of Salem, is a graduate cf Salem schools and formerly attended Oregon State college. She is now a student t Oregon College of Education. Her fiance, sod of Mr. and Mrs. C. G. Olson of Sa lem is attending Oregon State college. No plans, have been made for the wedding. Evolyn Bishop Hi-Y Sweetheart ... Pretty, brunette Evelyn Bishop was chosen the Hi-Y Sweetheart at the annual Sweetheart dance Saturday night at the Salem high school gymnasium. Several hun dred of the high school set attended the formal dance and the crowning of the sweet heart. Miss Bishop, a senior, was presented with a gold locket, a gift of the Hi-Y clubs, and her princesses, Betty Brinkley and Anita Neuenschwander, were given bouquets of roses. The identity of the sweetheart was kept a secret until intermission, the clubs having previously voted following the selection of the three girls. Kurt Kenon's orchestra played for dancing. Art eight foot heart centered the dance floor and around the wails were smaller hearts. Dozens of balloons added a colorful note to the decorations. During intermission the Hi-Y mothers served refresh ments. Patrons and patronesses for the affair were Mr. and Mrs. E. A. Carleton, Mr. and Mrs. Guernee Flesher. Mr. and Mrs. John Gardner, Miss Mary Gilbert, Mr. and Mrs. -Marion Moore, Dr. and Mrs. Chester W. Hamblin, Mr. and Mrs. C. W. Tandy, and Mr. and Mrs. Chester Muikey. Wilcox A AUW Luncheon Speaker S' State Senator Marie E. Wilcox will be the guest speaker at the luncheon meet ing of the Salem branch, American Association of University Women on Saturday afternoon, February 19 at the Marion hotel at one o'clock. She will talk on "Legisla tion and Women in Politics." Members of AAUW, who are here during the legisla tive session, have been invited as special guests and are asked to call Mrs. Lestle Sparks or Miss Laura Hale by Thursday for reservations. At the board meeting plans were outlined for the illustrated lecture to be given by Lowell Thomas, junior and senior, on March 8 at the Salem high school audi torium. McKays to Entertain Governor and Mrs. Douglas McKay are entertaining with three affairs this week at their Jerris avenue home. Monday night the McKays have invited members of the senate and their wives to a smorgasbord dinner with an informal evening fol lowing. House dinners will be held Wednesday and Thursday nights with the Mc Kays inviting the state representatives and Iheir wives to smorgasbord dinners. Tuesday will be Mrs. McKay's, day at home with all interested townspeople and out-of-town guests invited to call Informally during the afternoon. ftinner at Pearson State Treasurer and Mrs: Walter J.
