Alpha Chi Omega alumnae will be host esses for a benefit tea on Saturday afternoon, February 12 at the Fairmount Hill home of ; Mayor and Mrs. Robert L. Elfstrom. The af fair is for the purpose of raising funds for the National Society .for Crippled Children and ' Adults, which is a majoi project of the alum nae. All interested persons are cordially in vited to call during the tea hours between 3 and 5 o'clock. ' Greeting guests at the door will be Mrs. William L. Phillips, Mrs. William D. Crbghan and Mrs. Gerald M Robison, the latter two co-chairmen of the tea. Mrs. Forrest Bodmer . will be at the ticket table. Outstanding event of the week for mem bers of the high school set will be the HI-Y Sweetheart dance Saturday night In the high school gymnasium. Dancing for the formal affair will be to the music of Kurt Kenon'a orchestra between 9 and 12 o'clock. . Highlight of the evening will be the an nouncement of he Hi-Y Sweetheart and the three princesses selected by the Hi-Y chapters are Anita Neuenschwander, Betty Brinkley and Evelyn Bishop. The identity of the sweetheart will be kept a secret until the dance. The valentine motif win be Used in decorating : with a huge heart to center the dance floor. Glenn Kleen, Hi-Y council president, is general chairman of the dance and committee chairmen include: Bruce McDonald, princess selection, Ed Knapp. Dennis Feike, programs and tickets; Curtis Humphrey, refreshments; Sam Weinstein, orchestra; Dick Wyatt, light ing; Bill Dokken, decorations: Gordon Sloan, cleanup; Gene Carver, patrons and patron esses; Jim Cooke, Bob Jones, John Ericksen, and Merline Schuize, publicity; Ron Wal ters, cloak room; and Dick Fuhr, false Wiling. Friday night Wisteria club members will entertain with a dancing party at the Veter an's hall. Baldock are leaving today for Seattle, where he will give a talk at the University of Washington on traffic en gineering. Douelas Chambers was hon ored at a surprise party on his birthday Saturday night when Mrs. Chambers entertained at the G. F. Chambers ,home on North 13th street. Twelve of their friends were bidden to a dessert supper with several hours of bridge in play during the evening. The Valentine mo tif was used in decorating. Event of Thursday, February 17 will be the benefit card paity and dessert luncheon for which members of the Salem Woman' club will be hostesses at the clubhouse at one o'clock. Bridge and pinochle or any other card game will be in play and guests are asked to, !; bring their own table accessories.
