Numerous events have j been planned in honor of the fa " thers including luncheons, din- iiers and the basketball game tonight An executive board meeting of the Oregon Dads' club will be held Saturday morning with Pre sident Harry K. Newburn meet ing with the group. Salem men on the board are George Alexan der, the Rev. George H. Swift ana .Walter Kirk. Hiehlisht of the week end will be the Dad's Day banquet at John Straub hall Saturday noon with Rev. Swift asked to give the in vocation. Amon the Salem fathers plan ning to attend are P. H. Schnell, who will be the guest of his daughter. Phyllis: George Alex ander, who will visit his daugh tar. Charlotte: Rev. Swift, who will be the guest of his children, Jean Claire and George; Floyd Shepard, who wil be a guest of his daughter, Mrs. George C. Al exander; Oliver Huston, who will visit his coed daughter, Harriet, and Dr. George Hoffman, who will be a guest of his freshman daugh ter. Jeanne, who was a member of the official Dad's Day commit tee. John Carson, Hollis Hunt ington and John Caughell plan to be in Eugene Sunday for the Dad's Day dinner with their daughters, Jane Carson, Crystal Huntington and Josephine Caugh elL Mr. and Mrs. Gene Vanden eynde also plan to be on the cam pus for the Dad's week end. Mr. Grenz is employed by Safe way in Albany, and Miss Kerber is with the Pacific Telephone and Telegraph company here. She graduated from Salem high school. WA&WAF Officer To Visit Salem Capt. Dorothy E. Engle. recruit ing officer for the WAC and WAF in Oregon, will be at the Salem army recruiting office on Monday and will appear over KSLM at 2:45 that afternoon. Capt. Engle went into the army in 1943 and was on General Mae Arthur's staff in Tokyo. Clara Abbott Marry To Mr. and Mrs. G. A. Abbott of Salem are announcing the engage ment and approaching marriage of their daughter. Miss Clara Abbott, to Darwin Wolf of Aumsville. The wedding is planned for later in the month. The bride-elect moved to Salem from Louisiana several years ago and her fiance formerly lived in South Dakota. The couple will make their home in Salem. Mr. and Mrs. San C. Campbell and children. Patty and Bobby, have returned from a three weeks motor trip to Colorado. In Denver they visited her parents, Mr. and Mrs. A. L. Johnson and in Rocky Ford were with his family, Mr. and Mrs. E. E. Talk On Museum DALLAS The need of a chil dren's museum in Oregon and the prospects of the realization of the "Oregon Museum of Science and Iudustry- to be established in Portland, was discussed by John Ripley Forbes, director of the Ore gon Museum Foundation, at the Dallas Woman's club Tuesday af ternoon. Mr. Forbes showed moving pic tures of tha William T. Hornaby Memorial Foundation in Nashville. Tenn., one of 13 museums of this type located in the United States, illustrating the reaction of children to live animals and interesting in formal exhibits. Mrs. Howard Fleming presiding t the business meeting, announc ed that Mrs. Jack Eakin. sr., would serve as vice president and Mrs. Clinton Ruiter as program chair man, taking the place of former vice president, Mrs. Harold Ran stad, who moved from Dallas to Grants Pass. Books and magazines for distri bution at the Woodburn Boy's Training school, were brought and the club voted five yearly sub scriptions to the Model Airplane magazine for the school library. Mrs. Charles Bilyeu announced th scheduled Red Cross drive in March, and for assistance in vol unteer services. It was announced that the March meeting of the club wouia re a one o'clock luncheon to be held March 1, honoring the state president, Mrs. Howard B. Chandlee.
