Butler. DALLAS, Feb. 8F. J. Craven, 70, executive vice president of the Dallas City bank, died Wednes day night in a Portland hospital. Funeral services will be held at the Methodist church Saturday at 2 pjn. with interment at Belcrest Memorial park in Salem. Craven had been seriously ill since December 8 when he suf fered a heart attack. A director of the local bank since 1909, Craven was a long time member of the Dallas water commission and a former council man. He was born Dec. 2, 1878 at Millville, Mo., and came to Ore gon with his parents in 1889. They settled first at Independ ence and moved here three years later. He operated a general store at Ballston with two brothers be fore taking a position with the bank in 1903. He became cashier in 1913 and executive vice presi dent in 1941. He was a member of the Ma sonic lodge at Sheridan. Marmion lodge. Knights of Pythias, and the Kiwanis club. Survfvors are his widow, Clor ence, a son, Walter, and three grandchildren, all of Dallas, and a brother, E. H. Craven of Los Angeles. Samuel E. Harris Rites in Portland Funeral services will be held in Portland Monday at 1:30 p. m. in the Miller-Tracy chapel for Sam uel E. Harris, former resident of Salem, who died at Portland Wed nesday. Harris, who operated a service station in West Salem prior to the war, is survived by bis widow, Vina Harris, and son, Donald, both of Portland; four sisters, Mae Kerby, Fay Siddoway and Blanche Taylor, all of Salem, and Dorthea Mattson, Rigby, Idaho; also four stepchildren.
