returned from a four weeks visit
with her mother inHolton. Kans.

hours in Idaho en route west and
12 below zero and much snow was
encountered on the trip.

plans were made at an officers
meeting here Monday.

families have moved to Four Cor
ners after having lfved for sev
eral months on the Tharp place
here.
East Salem Mrs. Donald
Bowers (Faye Larkins) is now
at the home of her parents. Mr
and Mrs. Glen Larkins on Park
avenue, with her new baby daugh
ter. Carol Sue. the Larkins first
grandchild.
Pratum Community club will
meet Friday. January 21 at the
choolhouse.
Jefferson Card party is plan
Bed Friday night, January 28, by
the Altar society of St. Thomas
Catholic church. Pinochle and 500
will be played.

Mrs. Luella Hasemsn
MILL CITY Mrs. Luella Hase
man, 65, resident of trie canyon
for the last 15 years, died Wed
nesday in a Lebanon hospital
after a long illness. She was the
wife of C. P. Haseman. Idanha
lumberman. They lived in Mill
City for several years.
Funeral services will be Sat
urday at 2 p.m. at Weddle Fune
ral home in Stayton.
Other survivors are two sons.
R. R, and Jack Haseman of Idan
ha. and a daughter, Mrs. Verna
Rains of Lacomb.

MIDDLE GROVE "The Little
Cooks With Big Ideas" cooking
club met Monday with Lorilie
Holman. Thirteen members were
present. Sue Anglin and Sharon

Shepard Farm, Barn,
Hay and Calves Burned

ZEN A Fire of unknown origin
destroyed the barn on the Joe
Shepard farm at Zena early Mon
day. Three calves and an esti
mated 12 tons of "hay were also
burned. . I .$ &
The glare awoke Shepard
about 2:30 but the fire bad al
ready made such headway that
nothing could be saved. A door
left open permitted the jtow to
go in and out at will 'so "she
escaped, but the calves were shut
up and so were burned.
