.4 "Rites Read At Church Saturday The wedding -of Miss Heleri Doris Friesen, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John F. Friesen, and Robert K. Hasselblad, son of Mrs. Mabel Hasselblad of Tacoma, was solem nized Sautrday night at the First Church of the Nazarene ,with the Rev. Orval Jenkins performing the 8 o'clock nuptials. "Lighting the tapers were Mrs. Gordon Beecroft and Mrs. Landy Franz, who wore yellow frocks. Willard Friesen sang at his sister's wedding and William Fawk was the organist. Of white satin was the bridal gown, fashioned on princess lines with a tram, with a wide lace; ruffle. A headdress of satin and lace held in place her fingertip length veil and she carried a bou quet of tarnations centered with an orchid and tied with orchid ribbon. Mr. Friesen gave his daughter in marriage. Mrs, Jack Finden was her sis ter's matron of honor and wore an orchid faille gown. Bridesmaids were Miss Ruby and Miss Opal 3 Friesen, cousins of the bride, and Miss Bette Friesen, sister of the , bride, whose frocks were of apple green faille. The gowns were all styled . identical with gathered skirts, puffed" sleeves and net yokes on the bodices. They wore bands of flowers in their hair and carried colonial pastel nosegays. Kathy Friesen, in a white floor length frock, was flower girl nd Harlan Friesen was ring bearer. Attend the Groom Robert E. Lean was best man and groomsmen were Roger and Mark Westby and John Fister. Ushers were Ernest Friesen and Jack Finden. For. her daughter's wedding Mrs. Friesen wore a navy blue dress maker suit with rose blouse and accessories and corsage of garden ias. The groom's mother wore an aqua crepe gown and gardenias. A reception was held at the home of the bride's parents imme diately after the rites. Mrs. Gay lord Sherman was in charge of the dining room; Mrs. VVilard rrifn rut the cake. Mrs. Ernest Frieseti presided at the coffee urn and Mrs. Robert Lean was at ine punch bowl. Assisting were Miss Delores Friesen,! Miss Estella Schroeder, Mrs. William Fawk, Mrs. James Montgomery, Miss Florence Frey and Marilyn Frie sen who passed the dream cakes. After a wedding trip along the Oregon coast the couple will be at home in Tacoma, Jwhere he is in business. For going away the bride donned a green suit with snake skin shoes and purse, and a beige felt hat trimmed in green velvet ribbon. WSCS Guest Day Program Slated Guest day will be a feature of the WSCS meeting of the First Methodist church! on Wednesday at the -church. A business meeting will be held at 10:45 a. m. with a sack luncheon at noon. The pro gram will follow 1 at 1:15 o'clock with Mrs. J. E. Sayre leading the devotions. Several studies under the gen eral theme. "We Offer Unto Thee Ourselves," are planned for the next 5 few months, the first one being "Advanced Program." The Rev. Brooks Moore will speak on this subject showing how it is re lated to the chufch as a whole and Mrs. Waldo Zeller will show how it is related t$ the WSCS and will be assister by several mem bers. Mrs. Ervin Potter and Mrs. Winston Taylor will sing a group of duets. A tea hour will; follow the pro gram with Circle No. b as hostess with Mrs. C. H. Sawyer as chair man. Members are asked to bring guests. Mr. A. A.X.ee is chairman of the guest day committee. Martha Ferguson McKeown, Oregon writer, will be the guest speaker at the Salem Woman's club literature arid poetry groffp meeting on Tuesday at the club house. Coffee will be served at 1:30 with the program following at 2 o'clock. Friends of Mrs. McKeown and interested persons are invited to attend the meeting. Kappa Delta alumnae will meet on Thursday at the homeTf Mrs F CI. Rankin. 150 Kinrwood ave nue. Stone, Marion county health offi- I cer, will tell of the new physio- ' therapy unit to be installed at the : Salem Memorial hospital. Salem Council of Women or ganizations will meet at the cham ber of commerce at 2 p.m. on Thursday. Miss Jessie Fairham. a visitor from Erith, Kent, England, will .speak about her country. Th. Statesman. Salem, Oregon, Sunday. January 16, 194 3- 9 Miss Irene Mary Johnson, daughter of Dr. and Mrs. Charles H. Johnson, whose betrothal to Jack Walter Smith, son of Mr. and Mrs. Walter Smith, all of Salem, has been revealed. No plans have been made for the wedding. The benedict-eiect is" stationed at Fort Ord with the army. (Jesten--Miller). Guild Will Hear Miss Fairham Westminster Guild members will meet for a one o'clock des sert luncheon on Wednesday aft ernoon at the First Presbyterian church. Mrs. Samuel Harbison is chairman of the luncheon commit tee. Mrs. Charles La port is ar ranging the program and the speaker will be Miss Jessie Fair ham of Erith, Kent, England, who will discuss "Life in England." Mrs. Hobart Jackson will sing and Mrs. Roy Lockenour will lead the devotions. At the business session Mrs. f-P. H. Bryon will preside and plans will be made for the church fam ily covered dish dinner and in-1 formal get-together on February 17 at the church for which the guild members will be hostesses. At Christmas the guild furnished toys, clothing and a basket for two families. The guild is also spon soring two Girl Scout troops.
