bat . . . every once in a while we talk ourselves Into the worst state. This week we were writing about old fashioned desserts and recalled the float we used to eat down at the Cottage hotel in horse and buggy days. Nothing since has tasted so good as the stewed chicken and dumplings and flodt at the Cottage. Only the later Sunday din ners at the Argo could nearly approach it. Back to the wail . . . we didn't ; paint ourselves into a corner this week, but we left the telephone away over across an expanse of freshly applied green floor paint Our con stituents usually get usout oi the bathtub to answer questions, this time we had to swim across a sea o"f green.! J 4 Proof posiive . . 4 that Gabriel Heattex is sincere. He can put just as much heart into his voice when he's talking about his favor ite deodorant cream, as when he's warning his readers! of the sad state oi modem af fairs. Life's minor disappointments ... When we've reluctantly omitted onions from vege table salad! far lunch because of close con tact with visitors at the office, and then with the last bite, sink our teem into a fat juicy clove of garlic inadvertently added with the French dressing -i-mat's a tragedy. Not be cause we regret the garlic, but we deplore sacrificing die onion in vain . . . Maybe you guessed ... we looked at our figure, and we're on a diet. A writer on foods can do la much better job when she's really hungry, something like a singer, you know. Somehom !we never put our soul into food stories when our stomach is full, it takes a little gnawing of hunger to create inspira tion. ...
