Dallas School Site Is Of f ered ByLyle Estate DALLAS Possible solution to the problem of acquiring of addi tional land for school purposes in Dallas may be solved, since an option to buy the Lyle farm loca ted. Levens street , at EUendale road, has been given the Dallas school district for $8100, by the Lyle heirs, the school board has announced. George H. Kurre is the chairman. The 17-acre tract has been in the Lyle. family for nearly a century- The house on the property offered for sale was built by John Lyle in 1858. Since the pioneer Lyle family was prominent in educational ac tivities in Polk county during its settlement, the heirs would like to see the property used for sch..ol purposes. In 1845 John E. Lyle opened one of the first schcol in Polk coutty at the home of Na thaniel Ford. In 1846 he opened Jefferson Institute, on the dona tion land claim of Carey Embree east of Dallas. The family's inter est in educational and civic im provements have been manifested through the years. 'As soon as plans can be drawn and approved, the question of a bond issue to purchase the prop erty and erect a school building will be submitted to the voters for approval. At the present time it seems that a primary building of six or eight rooms is the most needed, since there is an enroll ment of 135 in the first gradej S. E.
