Miss Clinton to Be Speaker Miss Frances Clinton, state ex tension agent, will be the speaker at the officers' training meeting for all Marion county home ex tension unit officers to be held Friday, October 8. at the YMCA in Salem. H. Cables, 300 jS. Elma sve, but has so far pro duced one, two pound tomato; two, pound and a third tomatoes; six, pound and a half tomatoes; and seven which weighed more than a pound. Besides these there are many green tomatoes on the vine which may yet ripen before a killing frost. The tomato plant: was set out in the edge of the flower bed in which Mrs. Cables has more than 50 varieties. Individual high point winner of the livestock judging contest was John Moore, a member of the Nez perce county, Idaho, team that finished second in the team stand ings. His teammates were Martin Marke and Bill Wunman. It really was a three-way tie for high point individual scoring honors, but the judges broke the deadlock on the basis of, the rea sons for placings given by the three tied contestants. Others fig uring in the deadlock were Robin McKinley, 16, who was adjudged second and Bob Howard for Co lumbia county, Oregon, third. Gold, silver and bronze Pacific International medals were award ed to the members of the three top place teams at an awards ban quet. The high individual of the judging contest. John Moore, re-j ceived a camera for his champion ship. It was provided by Country j Gentleman, farm magazine. j Jean McKinley. a 14-year-old brunette, is making her first ap- ' pearance at Pacific International this year. Third and fourth teams in the standings were Columbia and Lin coln county, Oregon. Fifth place went to the Idaho team, repre senting Ada county. Mrs. Hottinger was born in Nova Scotia on Nov. 19, 1870, and had spent most of her life in the Salem area. She moved to Mrs. Ditter's home about a month ago.
