Baymoad Smith of Willamina came Friday, to accompany his parents, Mr. and Mrs! Clint Smith, ' on a week-end nshing trip along the : Deschutes. Mr. and Mrs. O. H. Mr. and Mrs. Vaughn Smith are daughter, Meridith, of Willamina spent the week-end here visiting friends. Mrs. C Braciexe and infant son will return from the Bend hos pital this week. Mr. and Mrs. Huber Ray made Business trip to Portland Sat urday and visited friends in Sher- Man. Mrs. Cnet cole and son were in Salem Friday, then went on to Rose Lodge to her parents. Cole went Saturday. Duane and Cecil Willis made a trip to Willamina Sunday, re turning Monday after stopping in Salem. Mr. and Mrs. H. N. Willis and daughter, Judy, spent the week end at McMi&nville visiting his mother, Mrs. H. J. Daugherty, and ether relatives. Mr. and Mrs. A. Cokenier and children drove to Crater lake for the week-end. Bud Hasman, Walt Anderson and E. Everson are among those having their houses painted the post week. Braciere did the work. Visits Canadian Lake on Vacation CLOVERDALE Edith Schif f erer, accompanied by her sister, Mrs. Albert Jensen and family, are on a vacation trip to Lake Louise. G. O. McCurdy has returned from a Salem hospital where he was for ten day alter undergoing major operation. Mr. and Mrs. Karl Wipper re turned Sunday from a four day trip to Pendleton. His 14 months old Border-Collie sheep dog,Toni, won second place at the dog trials. Visitors at the Fred Shifferer home last week have been Mrs. Louise Yeager, Toronto, Canada Others visiting were Louise Dye of Portland and Mr. and Mrs. Al bert Mader of Pratum. 'Valley : Obituaries Mary A. Day AURORA Mrs. Mary A. Day, 77, died at the home of her niece, Mrs. Mildred Harless, of Molalla, Monday, August 16, after long ill ness. Mrs. Day, born to the late Lyman and Mary Hunter in Minn nesota, Aug. 24, 1870, married Maitland F. Day at Stewart, Minn, April 3, 1900. They came to Ore gon in. 1907 and had lived in Sea side and near Mt. Angel, and the last 7 years in Molalla. She was a member of the Molalla Methodist church and Eastern Star at Sea side. Survivors are the widower. 3 nieces and 2 nephews, Mildred Harless of Molalla, Lucille Ross of ML Angel, Evelyn Dunlap of Portand, Harold Henninger and 4 grand nephews. Funeral services will be held at 2 p. m. Thursday, August 19, at the Everhart Funeral Home at Molalla, burial in the Adams cemetery. Mabel Guilliford AUMSVILLlr Mabel Gulliford, 80, died her home in Aumsville, August 1 6f after a long illness. Ser vices will be held at the Weddle funeral home in Stayton at 2 p. nx, August 19, with interment at lone Oak cemetery in Stayton. Mrs. Gulliford was born at Darlington, Ind on Nov. 30, 18S. Survivors are the widower, Jas per S. Gulliford; a son, Claire, of Aumsville; two granocniiaren, Jack Gulliford, and Lillian Ges cher of Idanha; three great grand sons and one great .grandaughter. It is estimated that winds of tornadoes sometimes exceed 300 miles an hour. .
