To Pi Beta Phi Convention ' J The Pi Beta Phi convention at French Lick Springs. Indiana will attract a number of Salem people. Delegates from the Willamette univerr-ity chapter will be Mis Edith Kairhsm end Miss Maxine Meyersj Miss Nancy Buren, also. of Salem, will be a delegate lrom the Oregon State Pi Phi chapter, Mrs. Herbert Smith and daughter. Sally, will also attend. - ; j . President and Mrs. Smith and Sally will leave June 22 for Indiana, stopping at Sun Valley, Where Dr Smith will speak at the Kappa Kappa Gamma convention. Dr. Smith will also be a gue&t speaker at th Pi Beta Phi convention. Alter the sessions. June 27-July 3, Mrs. Smith will go cn to Gatlinbui-g, Ten4 to attend the board meeting of the Pi Phi Settlement school. She will then go to Nashville, Indiana tq visij her mother, Mrs. II. H. Bro ks. Dr. Smitn wnl return west in early July and on August 1 Sally; Smth leaves for Shelby, Mich., to attend the American Youth Foundation summer camp. Pi sorority at Oregon State college, has been named as olficial delegate of the sorority to its internation-; al convention which will take place in Spring Lake, New Jersey, June 23-28. Accompanying Miss Gilbert; will be Miss Beverly Tynan of Portiand. In addition to attending the convention session?, the girls will; participate in the New York house party which Alpha Delta Pi is arranging following convention. They! will then journey south through Washington, D. C .St. Louis and New Oneans. ; I To Sail For Hawaii t j Mrs. Lester C. McLeod. her daughter. Miss Irene McLecd, and her sister, Mrs. Edgar W. ISmith of Portland, are leaving Monday by train for San Francisco, where they will sail on June 16 for the Hawai ian Islands on the S. S. Lurline. The travelers expect to pe away over a month and will visit with friends in Honolulu and tour the islands of Oahu and Hawaii. M:. and Mrs Merrill Ohling and daughters, Sara Ann and Alice Lou ise, have an interesting trip east planned. They are leaving here June 24 for Vari'-or. Maine, for a vivit with Mr. Ohling's aunt. Purvine and children, Billy and Becky, are entraining for Winona. Minn . on Wednesday for a two months visit with her par ents, Mr. and Mrs. Guy E. Raymond. Miss Marion Morangc is Jcaving later in the month for Middlebury, Vermont to continue work on her thesis for her doctor's degree at Middle bury college. She will reiurn in the tail to resume her position on th Willamette university faculty. Mrs. D. D. Oimstead will entrain for Detroit, Michigan Monday for a six weeks visit with her brother and sister-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Frank Wullfe. She will journey west by way of Los Angeles and other south ern points. Vacation At IS'eskonin Mrs. Wayne Hadley and her children, Eileen a.d Allan and her sistc-r. Miss Mary Lou McKay, will leave today to spend a week at the beach home of their parents. Sen. and Mrs. Douglas McKay, at Neskowin. Also leaving for Neskowin today for a fortnight's sojourn are Mrs. William C. Dyer, jr. and children, Connell and Marilyn, and Mir. Clay bourne W. Dyer and children, Shannon and Claybourne, who will occu py the beach house of Mrs. Frank Spears. Joining them for part of the time will be their husbands- and Mrs. Gertrude Walton of Portland and Mrs. Harry Burnside. Judges for the Spinster table setting contest on June 19 at the Marlon hotel nave been announced by the chairman. Miss Edith Moxley. Judges will be Judge George Rossman, Mrs. James T. Brand and Mrs. Ercel W. Kay. Tables for the contest must be ready for judging by noon. The tables will be on exhibit for the public to view between 2 and 9 o'clock. - Those wishing to enter tables may still do so by calling Miss Patricia Vandeneynde.
