The voting was 29 for and 17 against in Pedee; 9 for and 5 against in Fir Grove and 7 for In Cherry Grove. As a result of the consolidation, the Union High school Number 1, which was composed of the same three districts, will become con solidated high school Dist. 5 and the present grade school board di rectors will operate both the grade and high schools. Hartley Family Holds Reunion JEFFERSON Mr. and Mrs. Van Svarverud of Santa Barbara, Calif., are visiting the Rex Hartley, James Pate and Bob Sears famil ies. All attended the Hartley fam ily reunion at Gordon Hadleys at Independence. Officers elected are Mrs. Hadley, preident; Carl Hart ley, Aurora, vice president; and Merle Bowen, Silverton, secretary treasurer. Mrs. Myrtle Cannon of Salem, who has been on crutches since February, is now able to use a carje. She has been with her sister, Mrs. James Pate, and brother, Rex Hartley, here. Friends entertained at a no-host supper at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Les Shields Monday honoring Giltx-rt Looney. Present were Mr. and Mrs. George Potts, jr., and sons Gary and George, Mr. and Mrs. E. Many Building Permits Issued For Stayton STAYTON The Stayton city council this week approved sev I eral building permits. The largest was issued to the J Santiam Farmers' ooperative, 1385 i North First street, to erect a ware house of sheet metal, with an , aluminum roof, and concrete I foundation. It will consist of one I story and one room and no heat 1 will be used. It was specified ' that the aluminum roof will be painted. Estimated cost of the building, which will be 00 by 80 feet, is $7,200. Approval was given the applica tion of Merton Cox, to build a 32 x 70 foot dwelling on West Ida street of frame construction, with shingle roof and concrete founda tion. Oil heat will be used. Miss Nell Stayton will build a house on Second street in Pines addition. 20 by 24 feet of frame with a shingle roof and brick ; chimney with wood stove for heat. ! Estimated cost is $2,500. Permission to build a garage 20 by 24 feet was granted W. L. Frey at Sixth and Washington streets. Of frame construction with a concrete foundation, the cost J was estimated at $350. I William R. Tapscott was issued a permit to remodel a one-story frame dwelling 30 by 36 feet of frame with a concrete foundation at 216 West Ida street. Wood heat will be used. A jermit to enlarge a dormer ix by ten feet of wood with a composition roof was granted Bymn Shuck at 809 Third street. It will cost approximately $150. An addition costing approxi mately $1,500 will be built by M V. Sandherg to his grocery and confectionery store on Sixth street near Jefferson. Magnesium metal was first used i ommeroally in Germany about 1913. Women Injured in Tractor Accident DALLAS Mrs. Dave R. Pierce and daughter Myrtle, 15, of the Cooper Hollow district were brought to the Bartell hospital June 7 for treatment of Injuries received In a tractor accident. Mrs. Pierce and Myrtle were attempting to hook a disc to the tractor driven by another daugh ter. Hazel, 16, who stated that her foot slipped from the brake allowing the tractor wheel to hack over the two women. Mrs. Pierce incurred several broken libs and a badly cut ear. Myrtle has a broken lower jaw, a broken collar bone and lacera tions on ihe face and neck. WEEK-END AT JASPER JEFFERSON Mr. and Mrs. A. L. Page of the Parrish Gap dis trict spent the weekend at Jas per, guests of Mr. and Mrs. Clyde Crawford. They brought a reg istered Hereford sow home with them. Falls City 8th Grade Graduation Is Held FALLS CITY Eighth- grade graduation was held at the high school auditorium Wednesday eve ning at 8 o'clock. There were 19 graduates, Jimmy Baker, Eugene Bakke, Glen Cooper, Janet Den nis, Carol Dunlway, Dorothy Dun iway, Harvey Gilmore, Betty Gra ham, Gene Luhde, Joe Martin, Leslie Murphy, Steven Poe, Royce Riddle, Beverly Vogal, Bertha Ware, Ina and Virginia West brook, Charlie Williams and Freda Yenglin.
