Saturday June 5, 1948 13 Daily Vacation Bible Schools To Start on Monday in Salem Nearly a score of Salem churches will participate In dally vaca tion Bible schools which are to open Monday. They will continue Monday through Friday mornings for two weeks, principally for chil dren of 4 years and older. All will open at 9 a.m. Each church has Invited not only members of its own Sunday Schools to attend but also all children in the vicinity. In some cases two or more denominations have Dedication of Dallas Church Slated Sunday gone together as sponsors of a ingle school. The program at the various churches will Include Bible study, missionary Instruction, handicraft projects and recreation. The Evangelistic Tabernacle, Assembly of God, at 13th and Ferry streets, will center on the theme of "God's Clock of the Ages." Director Is the Rev. James ft. Kessler. associate pastor. The Bethel Baptist school at Cottage and D streets is directed toy Maudie Jane Reiscnke; the First Baptist's at Marion and Lib erty streets, Anne Graber, the church's director of Christian edu cation; and Immanuel Baptist's at Hazel and Academy streets by Mrs. Marc Saucy and the Rev. and Mrs. Fred Bennett. will have a school conducted by j Rev. James a Scott, pastor, Ethel Fay Bottens, at 17th and Court streets. A school sponsored Jointly by First Christian, First Methodist and First Presbyterian churches will be held at the former church, Center and High streets, i ncharge Of Maude Durfee. The Christian Missionary Alli ance school will also open Monday at 5th and Gaines streets. A co operative school by the Englewood and First Evangelical United Brethren churches will be at the former church, directed by the Rev. Lloyd Uecker and the Rev. George K. Millen. The school at Highland Avenue Friends church will be in charge of Shirley Stuart of Pacific col lege. The Lutheran schools will be at Central church, meeting in the Seventh Day Adventist church at Hood and Summer streets, directed by Evelyn Halvorsonr Christ church. State and 18th streets, by the Rev. C. R. Schultz, Mrs. Mar Mrs. Evelyn Bolmeier and Mrs. tha Fox, Mrs. Evelyn Bolmeier nd Mrs. Gideon Klein; and St. Mark's church, 343 N. Church st., by Mrs. L. J. Stewart. Another cooperative endeavor will be that at Leslie Methodist church. First services were held in the struc ture last Sunday, according to the Dedication Set Here Sunday DALLAS, Ore., June 4 Dedi cation of the new St. Thomas Episcopal church here will be made Sunday afternoon at 4 o'clock, with the Rt. Rev. Ben jamin D. Dagwell, bishop of the church's Oregon diocese, officiat ing. First services in the building will be Sunday morning at 11 o'clock in charge of Archdeacon Perry H. Smith, pastor. The church, under construction since last October on property given by the late Erie Fulgham, will hold 100 persons, with room for 250 more in the parish hall. Other Dallas churches and the general public have been invited to attend and participate In the dedication. HEX lltt (Daylight Savings Times) Church Dinner Fellowship Set At Silverton SILVERTON Installation serv ices of stewards of the church will form part of the services at the Methodist church Sunday at 1 1 o'clock. The choir, under the di rection of Felix Wright, will sing "Master, the Tempest Is Raging." Fellowship will be observed In three Silverton churches Sunday. In the Met hod lit and Trinity churches dinners will follow the morning services. At Calvary the fellowship hour will be at S p.m. Hostesses at Trinity dinner are Mrs. John Doerfler, Mrs. Ward Terry, Mrs. Mary Storlie, Mrs. Ed win Dahl, Mrs. Peter Olsen and Mrs. Philip Tucker. Trinity Dorcas society will meet Friday night at the home of Mrs. Arthur Gotten berg. Vacation summer school starts Monday at 9 a.m. and con tinues for three weeks, forenoons only. The Methodist dinner Is no-host, with youth fellowship services set for 7:30 p.m. Wednesday night the official board will meet. At Calvary fellowship, the ladles' trio, the male choir and the mixed choir will give a concert to which the public Is invited as well as to the no-host supper following the concert. Mrs. Alvin Almqulst and the pastor, the Rev. James A. Tofte will teach the summer school which starts Monday for any child over six years of age. Naomi so ciety meets Tuesday at 7:30 at the home of Mrs. Clifford Almqulst. The Rev. Martin Burg will speak at a Christian missionary service at 7:30 Thursday night. At Immanuel Lutheran church the Rev. S. L. Almlie also announc ed vacation Bible school to start Monday at 9 a.m. Bethany circle will meet Tuesday at 2 o'clock at the home of Mrs. Harold Satern with Mrs. Anton Dahl as co-hostess. Lutheran Children of the Ref ormation meets Saturday at 2 p.m. New Lutheran Pastor Here W. Framstad, student at Augs burg seminary In Minneapolis, has assumed the pastorate of Cen tral Lutheran church for the sum mer months and will conduct ser vices beginning Sunday. He re places the Rev. Robert A. Krue ger, who was called to a church in Tacoma. Framstad, who will return to school in the fall, and his wife are living at 1543 N. Capitol st. The Rev. Mr. Rundstrom Is to arrive in the fall to assume the church. For many years resident of Topeka, Kans she is graduate of Kansas university and received an honorary degree from the Col lege of Emporia. Mrs. Moser is a member of the executive committee of the Federal Council of Churches and this sum mer will serve as an alternate delegate to the World Council of Churches meeting in Amsterdam. Talbot Church Plans Vacation Bible School JEFFERSON The Talbot Com munity church daily vacation Bible school will begin Monday and con tinue through June 18. Teaching will be Phyllis Jackson of Yakima, Wash., Maxine Moss of Union Gap, Wash., Mrs. Irene Franz, Mrs. Gladys Cochran and Betty Schway of Talbot. The school is for all children 4 to 14 years. The Rev. R. Roger Irwin is pastor of the church. Miller Hayden, Staclter Report Election Costs Miller B. Hayden, Marion coun ty district attorney, reported to the state elections division Fri day that he spent $534.04 seeking renomi nation in the primary election. Edward O. Stadter, jr., Salem attorney, who defeated Hayden in the republican race, filed an ex pense report of $376.02.
