School Fund Ruled
Out as Payment of
Membership Dues
District school boards having
representation in the Oregon
School Boards association cannot
pay membership dues out of school

Neuner said school boards de-
siring to use public funds for this
purpose should seek permission
from the legislature, the only
source for such authority. The
opinion was requested by Rex
Putnam, state superintendent of
public instruction.
