Toastmasters Address Salem Rotary Club Two Salem Toastmasters were' the speakers at Salem Rotary club I luncheon Wednesday at the Mar ion hotel. Ralph Nohlgren, who will rep resent Salemb Toastmasters at the zone competition in Portland June 5, gave the talk which won him thearea competition at Eugene a short time ago. If he is success ful in Portland he will then enter national competition in San Fran cisco. Subject of his talk Wednesday was "Hour of Destiny" and in it he drew upon his experiences dur ing the World War II in the South Pacific, to make the point that more than money is needed to help the needy peoples of the world. George Moorhead, another toastmaster, entertained with his straight face talk on the money making possibilities of raising milking mice. L. O. Arens intro duced the (two speakers. Carkin approved an application of the state highway commission for authority to widen an existing overcrossing structure over and across the tracks and right-of-way of the Southern Pacific com pany near Tolo, approximately five miles north of Central Point on the Pacific highway in Jack son county. MacIIugli Has High Producing Jersey High producing herd In Linn county dairy herd improvement ; association for April is owned by ; Harold Macllugh, Albany, A. L. Pulliam, assistant county agent, announced Wednesday. MacHugh's herd of registered Jerseys pro duced an average of 93.4 pounds of milk and 48 pounds of butterfat per cow during the month. Second highest producing herd in the association is owned by Wilmer Steckley, Albany, whose Jerseys produced an aver age of 958 pounds milk and 46 pounds of butterfat.
