Realtors to Vote On Limitation of 'For Sale' Signs A move to prohibit Salem Board of Realtor members from plaster ing salable properties with various real estate companies' signs was proposed by the board Friday. The by - law amendment, if passed, would prevent members from placing their signs on prop erty without consent of the owner or without an exclusive listing. To do so would "violate the consti tution of the board." Members will vote on the pro posal at the board meeting on May 7. Architects for Courthouse Interviewed Architect firms interested in the proposed new Marion county court house were interviewed for the 'ast time Friday by the court house building committee. The committee voted to meet again June 2 to make final choice on one of six architect firms in terviewed. County Judge Grant Murphy, committee member, said that to date no definite plans for the contemplated building had crystalized. It will be marble exterior, he said, and will be constructed on the site of the present structure. Luther League Rites Planned At Silverton SILVERTON For the first time in its history. Trinity congrega tion will join hundreds of other congregations of the Evangelical Lutheran churches of America in observing its annual Luther League day by turning the 11 o'clock worship hour Sunday over to the youth of the church. The pastor, the Rev. M. J. K. Fuhr, will be in charge of the altar service, Mrs. Alt O. Nelson will be at the organ and Mrs. Ted Lands em will direct the choir and sing a solo. Jud- ; Friday that death was due to a Hunter Kills 8i ft. Cougar Bounty on one of the largest cougars ever killed in Marlon county was collected at the Mar ion county clerk's office Friday. The huge cat was killed April 7 in the area of the Little North Fork of the Santiam river by Sam uel W. Koontz, Albany route 4. It weighed more than 175 pounds and measured 8 feet 5 inches from tail to nose. Koontz, a Southern Pacific rail way conductor, shot the animal four times with a .22 single shot rifle. His blue tick hound treed the cat only about a mile from a mill town located five miles above Mehama. Koontz also collected $2 50 each from the county on four bobcats he shot while hunting the cougar. Riggs The need to "get out and grow through experience and to live in the present and deal with it effectively was asserted to Salem Retail Credit association Friday by Dr. Lawrence A. Riggs, dean of students at Willamette uni versity.' Dr. Riggs noted that normality is a relative concept allowing wide variance for individuals, but that extremes usually "are not the place where we should be.'' Peo ple should be able to have an "outgoing experience" as well as to be able to retire to their own inner resources of power, he said. McWain, survives. The couple came to Salem in 1918 when Mc Wain was transferred to the local Pacific Telephone and Telegraph service department. He was a member of the Woodmen of the World. Surviving besides the widow are two sons, Edwin McWain of Portland and Wesley McWain of Santa Ana, Calif.; a daughter, Mrs. Nadine Trick of Costa Mesa, Calif.; three brothers. Dean Mc Wain of Salem, Douglas McWain of Blythe, Calif., and Eugene Mc Wain of Los Angeles; a sister, Mrs. Edwina Reddiag of Long Beach, Calif., and ibur grandchildren. Liquor Fund Distributed Distribution of $53,978 state li quor revenues to counties and city was announced Friday by Sec retary of State Earl T. Newbry. The distribution represents re ceipts from liquor privilege taxes collected during the first three months of 1948 and are appor tioned on the basis of population. The city of Portland will receive $15,127 and Multnomah county $2,301. Other apportionments of $1,000 or more include Clackamas county $1,757, Klamath county $1,082, -Lane. county $1,859, Eugene $1,032, Marion county $1,660, Sa lem $1,531 and Washington county $1,453. A Fellowship dinner sponsored by the Salem child evangelism committee will be held Tuesday at 6:30 p.m. Special music and a guest speaker highlight the pro gram. Adventist Church Seeks Aid Funds Salem's goal of 15,000 for the annual "Ingathering" campaign of the Seventh Day Adventist church was announced this week by A. R. Ogden, district director, and Robert Skinner, local pastor. The money will go into a world campaign for food, clothing and missions for famine areas in Europe and Asia. Ojjden said that more than $2,000,000 was raLsed last year in the United States for the work, in cluding medical and educational missions. The campaign closes May 15.
