April MP)-The stock market today touched its average peak for the year al though many leaders were de pressed by profit cashing on the lengthy upswing. Strength of a few rails enabled this group to reach it: best level since August 30, 1946, but excep tions here were plentiful. Dealings, fast in the morning, tapered later and extreme gains running to 2 points or so were reduced in the mapority of cases at the close. There was a wide assortment of losers. The Associated Press 60-stock composite was up .1 of a point at 66 which equalled the year's top established Jan. 2. At one time during the proceedings the index exceeded this figure. Of 1,043 is sues registering, 463 rose and 318 fell.
