Newspaper Page TextLois Hill Bride of Friday The fireplace room of the First Congregational church was the setting for the wedding of Miss Lois Hill, daughter of Mrs. Pearl M. Hill and Thomas Hill of Valley Junction, to William L. Anderson, son of Mr. and Mrs. William P. Anderson of West Salem, Friday night. At 8 o'clock the Rev. Seth Huntington otficiated at the im pressive rites, which were per formed before the fireplace banked with arrangements of pink and white snapdragons and tapers. For her wedding the bride chose a smart grey and ben bon pink stripe wool suit fashioned with box jacket and straight skirt. Her hat and gloves were of pink and her accessories were grey. She carried a bouquet of white roses centered with an orchid. Thomas Hill, jr. gave his youngest sister in marriage. Mrs. Gene Knudson was the bride's honor matron and wore a mist blue suit with black hat and accessories and carried a bouquet of pink carnations and white snapdragons. William Franklin Hill, brother of the bride, was best man. Mrs. Hill attended her daugh ter's nuptials in a grey dress with violet hat and Mrs. Anderson wore a brown suit with beige and brown accessories for the ceremony. Their corsages were of gardenias and violets. The newly weds were honored at reception at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Hill, Jr. on Leslie street. Mrs. Hill cut the cake and Mrs. Hugh William McElhinny, sister of the bride, presided at the coffee urn. A rwest at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Sprague the past week has been her aunt, Mrs. G. W. Hassler of Berkeley. Calif. The visitor is also a sister-in-law of Perl Hasler of Salem. Mr. Hassler is en route to New York where she will sail on March 26 on the Gripsholm for Sweden where she will spend several months. She plans to return to the states in July. Mrs. Cordelia Ileningtoa and Mrs. Hugh McCain left Friday by train for a two week's stay In Los Angeles, visiting at the home of Mrs. McCain's sister, Mrs. C. W. Hand ley and family. Clubs Music The Home uueas roaa Engagement Announced Mr. and Mrs. Vern Bjornstrom of Astoria are announcing the engagement of their daughter, Miss Betty Bjornstrom, to Pud ley P. Hansen, son of Mr. and Mrs. Carl B. Hansen of Salem. The wedding is planned to take place in the late summer. The bride-elect attended schools in Astoria. Her fiance attended the Milwaukee school of engi neering at Milwaukee, Wis. and the University of Wisconsin. He is now with the Western Elec tric Co. In Portland. During the war he served with the army medical corps for five years, part of which time was spent in Europe. Miss Bjornstrom and her fiance will be guests at the Hansen home here this weekend. Delegates elected to at tend the encampment were Mrs. Mauk and Mrs. Van Santen. Plans for a benefit card party on March 25 were made with Mrs. Ray Osborne chairman. Book Review by Mrs. Rossman JEFFERSON Mrs. George Rossman of Salem gave an inter esting review of the book, "Mir acle of the Bells" at the Wednes day meeting of the Jefferson Woman's club. During the busi ness meeting conducted by Miss Marjorie Fontaine, president, the club also voted for the Children's Farm home at Corvallis. Mrs. J. G. Fontaine read the scripture verse and Mrs. D. H. Looney in troduced the speaker. Guests were Mrs. Russell Daulton, Mrs. Bob Terhune, Mrs. Henry Schantz, Mrs. Virgin Bailes and Mrs. L. A. Weddle. Refreshments were served at the tea hour by the hostesses, Mrs. Ernest Powell. Mrs. Alfred Pow ell and Mrs. Robert Terhune, as sisted by Mrs. J. C. Terhune and Mrs. Bob Terhune. Favors of daphne marked each plate, and arrangements of daffodils and forsythia were placed about the rooms. Mrs. A. F. deLespinasse will speak on "Schools in Holland" at the March 24 meeting when Mrs. Paul Smith, Mrs. S. H. Goin, Mrs. Varion Goin and Mrs, D. H. Loo ney will be hostesses. Twenty-eight piano pupils of Mrs. Fern Craven were enter tained at her home Wednesday night. Games were in play and each pupil played piano selec tion. Refreshments were served by the hostess.
