Petition Asks
Glenwood as
Street Name
A petition asking wthe Marion
county court to give the name of
Glenwood drive to a street now
named Smith street lying in the
Four Corners area will be up
for hearing March 19,. the court
ordered Tuesday.
The 2T petitioners seek the
change to Glenwood drive because
there- is also a Smith street in
north Salem near the junction of
Fairgrounds road and Highland
avenue. In order that the Four
Corner residents may obtain house
numbers and receive mail service,
it is necessary that the change be
made.
Postmaster Albert Gragg has
approved the name change which
was already suggested to the
county court some months ago by
the Salem city council. No action
was taken by the court at that
time. County Judge Grant Mur
phy said, because no actual pro
posal asking for the change had
been made.
The court has also set for hear
ing on the 19th petitions seeking
the naming of seven, unnamed
roads in the Cherry avenue dis
trict near North Salem city lim
its. The court, however, continued
a request from residents in the
Clear Lake section asking that
an unnamed road there be named
