January 9. 1848 Salem "Man To Marry In East The traditional box of choco late was passed at the Alpha Chi Omega house on the Willamette university campus Tuesday night ti announce the coming wedding ol Miss Joan Kathan of Rogue River to Charles J. Zerzan, son of Charles J. Zerzan of Salem. Scrolls bearing the names of the couple and the wedding date. February 5 was found inside the box of candy. Miss Kathan will leave the first of February for Milwaukee, Wise. where the wedding will take place. Mr. Zerzan is attending Marquette University School of Medicine at Milwaukie, where the couple will live. The bride-elect completed her Junior year at Willamette univer sity and is a member of Aipna Chi Omega. Her fiance attended Willamette trior to entering medi cal school. He served as president of Phi Delta Theta and is a mem ber of Alpha Phi Omega and Mu Fpsilon Delta, medical fraternity He served in the army for over five years, part of which time was sp-nt in Bui ma. He was released wtth the rank of a captain. Interdorm Formal On Saturday Soft lights, sweet music, and gay Spanish Caballeros will greet dancers at the Interdorm formal to be held at the Labor Temple Saturday night from f to 12 o'clock. Sponsored by Fredrickson and Lausanne halls of Willamette uni versity, the formal la one of the larger affairs of the year on the campus. With the Skyline rs from Cam as, Washington, furnishing the music, the dance will take place in a setting of old Spain to fit the theme, "Un Noche en Ja pans." Council Holds First Meeting First meeting of Camp Fire Girls newly elected council of the Willamette area, Salem district, was held Wednesday night at the organization's offices, with Mrs. Irl McSherry leading a round table discussion of activities planned for the year. Merrill D. Ohling outlined the council's history and described Camp Kilowan. Dayl Durres, camp chairman, reported on improvements planned for the camp. JoAnn Barton, group organizer, outlined duties of committee chairmen and an nounced that the annual area ban quet will be held In Salem Feb ruary 2. Parties at Scellars' Home The Fairmount Hill home of Mrs. E. J. Scellars has been the scene of a series of parties the past week. On Saturday, January 3 and Tuesday, January 6 Mrs. Scellars and Mrs. Custer Ross entertained at bridge luncheons for a group of matrons with covers placed for sixteen each day. Mrs. Scellars was hostess for a similar affair last Friday and will preside at the last in a series of luncheons today at her home, with covers placed for sixteen.
