Dec. 25, Jack Hoover, 5, of Woodburn route 1, who was seriously injured in a jeep - truck collision which took the lives of his mother, Mrs. Roy Hoover, and his younger brother, Jimmy, -was reported, to be im proving at Silverton hospital Fri day night. The accident occurred near Mo nitor December 17 when a load of lumber from a truck toppled onto the Jeep in which the three Hoovers were riding. The jeep crashed into the side of the truck and the chain holding the lumber snapped.- according to Henry Bud reau, Silverton, driver of the truck. Cannery Gives Workers Bonus Approximately 50 employes of the California Packing Corpora tion, d 250 Mill st., have been giv en a bonus of one-half of one month's pay, local plant officials said Friday night. The bonus is based on Novem ber salaries and this year marks the second time it has been dis tributed. All employes who have been with the company continu ously for one year ending Decem ber 15, excluding officers and di rectors, received the bonus. YM Bicycle Trip Cancelled by Fog The bicycle hike scheduled Fri day as a feature of the Salem YMCA vacation program was can celed due to the heavy fog, and an extra group of movies run in stead, according to John Gardner, boys' work secretary.
