ANGEL Approximately 80 couples were present at the an nual prom sponsored by the Young People's Sodality, in the St Mary's auditorium last week end. The theme chosen was "Rac ing With the Moon." carried out in the decorations. Jimmy Whet more's orchestra furnished music. Decorations were planned by a committee of boys and girls of the sodality, Pauline Weis, Maryann Hauth,. Louise Lulay, Eleanore Hauth, Lola Traviss, Laura Schwab and Marian Unger assisted by Jer ry Till, Larry Geek, Dean and Doug Penner, Dee Silffe and Quin Beyer. On the program committee were Rosella Gooley, Evelyn Purdy, Clara Wolf and Stella Dummer. Invitations to the neighboring parishes of Woodburn, St Paul, Silverton and the two Salem par ishes were in charge of Art Gooley and Tony Schulz. Silverton Woman's Club Meeting Will Be Monday ; SILVERTON The Woman's club will meet in the social rooms of the First Christian church Mon day at 2:15. A Christmas program will be given under the direction of Helvie Silverton. Christmas gifts will be brought to the meeting for the Children's Farm Home at Corvallis. Hostesses for the afternoon are Mrs. E. A. Kern, Mrs. John Wilson, Mrs. Roy Morley and Mrs. S. A. Gay. Polk Odd fellows iPupils Are Hosts M. At Dallas Meeting INDEPENDENCE Polk Coun ty association of Odd Fellows and Rebeccas met at Dallas December 5. Meeting was held in the high school gymnasium and music was by Dallas school band. A dance was held after the business meeting. From Independence attending were Mr. and Mrs. Irvin Ben scoter, Mr. and Mrs. Harold Tray lor, Mr. and Mrs. Adolph Riha, Mr. and Mrs. Glenn Morgan, Mr. and Mrs. Jess Sohn, Mrs. Irma Cooper,1 Bill Kelley.tr. and Mrs. Walter Smith and Mr. and Mrs. will be January 23, at Independence. Mrs. Prather J New President Buena Vista Club BUENA VISTA Twenty-one members and three visitors -attended the Buena Vista Woman's club meeting. The program in cluded a piano solo by Mrs. Cecil Hultman and vocal duets by Mrs. Melville Wire and Mrs. Hazel Wells. Mrs. Wire displayed some of her water color pictures and Wire showed his etchings and explained the etching process. Officers were elected for the coming year as follows: President, Mrs. Leland Prather; first vice president, Mrs. Milo Graber; sec ond vice-president, Mrs. Harold Withrow; secretary, Mrs. Luther N. Osborne; treasurer, Mrs. El mer Busby. . Next meeting will Se December 17 and will be the Christmas par- ty. T For Their Mothers At Jefferson Tea JEFFERSON Grade school pu pils entertained for their mothers at a tea Wednesday in the home economics room of the school. Gospel Team from Berlin, Linn county, conducted the evening service at the Evangelical United Brethren church Sunday night. The program included music, talks and pictures. Sunday School party of the Methodist church was held Tues day at the Marion Looneys on the Pacific highway north of town. The Rev. Ivan Hadley is teacher of the class. Mr. and Mrs. E. B. Klampe of Labish Center visited Anna Klam pe and Nettie Reeves in Jefferson Sunday. Mrs. A. C. Eperly is still in an Albany hospital, but is improving from a recent operation. Shiffer, representing Dr. Harold Erickson, secretary of the state board of health, will be guest speaker for the Stayton Chamber of Commerce meeting Monday night Decem ber 8. Shiffer will explain laws and the state wide hospital survey, which is being conducted by the board of health. Stayton Faculty Croup STAYTON A turkey dinner and all the trimmings was a fea ture of the monthly factulty get together of Stayton high school and grade- school faculties when families of, the teachers were also present. Mrs. Irene Rock was chairman and others on the committee were Mrs. Zeda "Lisle, Mrs. Twila Sims, Stella Enget and Merrill Boyle. Annual Correspondents Christmas Party Will Be Held on Saturday The fourth annual Christmas party for valley correspondents of The Oregon Statesman will be held at the Marion hotel at 12:15 p jn. Saturday.- Principal speaker will be Floyd Lansdon, Oregon bureau chief for The Associated Press, who will talk on The Grass Roots of News." Several Statesman corre spondents also will give brief talks, and cash prizes for the year's best reportorial work will be distributed by Marguerite Gleeson, Statesman valley editor. Mr. and Mrs. LeRoy Simpson have exchanged property with Mr. and Mrs. John Frazer of route 9, near the ball-park at Salem, and have moved there. Frazers, former .high school teachers, originally from Baldwin, Douglas county, Kan., have moved to the Simpson place, route 1, on highway 222 east of Stayton. Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Becker have purchased the former resi dence of Mr. and Mrs. Oscar Ha gen and son, on North Fifth street, the Hagens having moved to their new place directly across the street on Jefferson street. Frank Peters, who lived on the farm ad joining the Becker farm near Me hamabought the Becker place. Planning to give possession of their farm on highway 222, De cember IS, Mr. and Mrs. M. T.
