Nov. 22W;P-While exceptions were plentiful, light selling stalled many stock leaders today although the market aver age, for the week, showed its first net advance since mid-October on expanding volume. On the day Western Maryland common and preferred touched 1947 peaks but fell back and emerged with fractional gains. Anaconda Wire & Cable made a year's high and ended up 2rs at 724. The recently strong Union Pa cific, which had been up 18 points for the week on a splitup proposal and dividend, yielded 1 M: at 1564. Pacific Western Oil dropped 14 at 53 14. The Associated Press 60-stock composite on the day was off 1 of I point at 65.3 but for the week was up .8, first weekly ad vance since the period concluded Oct. 18. Of 674 issues registering in the two hours, 280 fell and 200 gained. Volume of 320,000 shares compared with 300,000 last Satur day. For the week the aggregate was 4,989,560 shares against 3,485, 651 the week before and was the largest since the period ended No vember 1. .
