Anderson recently purchased what wis for merly the Gail Prather hop ranch, in the Camp Adair area. Mrs. W. R. Pruiett and Mrs. L. H. Ward representing Buena Vista and Hopville district, attended a Polk county Health meeting at Rickreall Monday. Plans were made to bring the X-ray unit to Independence the first part of De cember. Anyone wishing to take advantage of this T.B. X7ray may secure envelopes from these wom en to sign for same. Mr. and Mrs. Gail Prather spent the weekend with her niece and husband Mr. and Mrs. Darrel Frum at Sisters. Mr. and Mrs. Ii N. Osborn, June and Jean Osborn, and their house guest, Mrs. S. M. Mothers Protest Brings1 New Woodburn Bus Trip WOODBURN Addition of an other, school bus run so that first and second gade-; youngsters at tending local schools from outside the city will be returned home by 3:30 p.m. each day, has been made following appearance of a group of mothers from the old Hall dis trict. Bus will pick up the youngsters when dismissed at 2:30 pjn. and return at 3:30 p.m. for the regular run. Detroit Guest Gets His Deer DETROIT Mr. and Mrs. Ken Smith of Portland spent the week end with the Frank Fishers. Smith got a nice buck while hunting. Henry White of Eugene spent a. few nights last week with his brother-in-law and sister, Mr. and Mrs. Earl Parker while here on business Mrs. Earl Parker, who keeps a record of the rainfall, reports 4.11 inches of rain fell in a 38 hr period beginning Tuesday night. Cathrin Fryer, attending busi ness college in Salem, visited her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Tom Fryer last weekend and was accompan ied by Sharon Johnson of Sa lem. Mrs. J. A. Wright was in Stay- Ion Tuesday and stayed that night with her sister. Mrs. L. A. Crane of Scio, returning Wednesday. Astoria Woman Visits Halls Ferry Family HALLS FERRY Mrs. Guy Barker of Astoria visited at Ray barkers last week. Mr. and Mrs. Floyd Allen and children have gone to California to visit a few days and will go to Colorado to live. Valley Obituaries Mr. William Henry Werner WOODBURN Funeral services for Ida Henrietta Werner, 73, who died Friday were held here Mon day from Ringo s chapel, burial in Belle Passi. Mrs. Werner came to West Woodburn six years ago. She was bom in Blue Earth, Minn., June 7, 1874 and after some time in Canada returned to the United States in 1902. Survivors are the widower, Will- Henry Werner, sons Melvin M. Werner, Sandy; Lowell A. Werner, at home; sister, Minnie Andrews, West WoOdburn; two sisters and a brother in the east, a sister in Cali fornia and one grand child. Baby Davidson WOODBURN Graveside serv ices were held Sunday afternoon at St. Louis for Sandra Jean Da vidson, six weeks old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. James Davidson. Born last Aug. 29 in Salem, be sides the parents, grandparents, are Mr. and Mrs. Edward David son and Mr. and Mrs. Fred Man ning of Gervais. Theodore A. Fleischhauer AURORA Theodore A. Fleisch hauer, 68, died Friday night at his home here. Born in Philadelphia February 6, 1879 he came to Ore gon as a child. In 1915 at Port land he was married to Harriet Atkinson. They lived here 12 years and he had been postmaster in Aurora. Survivors are the widow, a son, Daniel of Eugene; a daughter, Janet of Seattle; two brothers. Henry of- Portland, and Al of Oceanlake. Funeral services were held Mon day, Oct. 20 at the Miller Funeral Home in Aurora, burial in River view cemetery, Portland. Pedee Visitors Are Entertained PEDEE Mrs. E. A. Fogg of Jennings Lodge spent several days at the C. L. Barbanks this week. Mrs. Charles Kessler. Mrs. Will iam Kessler and baby Erma Coleen were in Portland Monday. The Evangelical Youth Fellow ship of Kings Valley and Pedee held a party at the parsonage in Kings Valley Friday. Devotional meetings, recessed during the sum mer, will be resumed October 26. E. R. Lamb, chairman of Independence announces that 35 per cent of the quota has been reached and that the campaign is expected to be completed by November 15. The Monmouth drive is expected to be completed within ten days. The county quota is J 12,000.
