In most cases. Smith said, veter ans should receive their checks between November 1 and 10, pro vided they have enrolled properly and if their school has certified their enrollment with the VA. Burr Miller as chairman, assisted by Mrs. Charles A. Sprague and Dorothy Cornelius. The committee will report nominations for chairmen of pub licity, legal work, building plans, building sit and finances at an officers' meeting at 5 p. m. Fri day, October S. in the office of Rex Kimmell, deputy state attor ney general and president of the association. Kimmell succeeded Miller in association elections last week. Present and past officers yes terday conducted a preliminary discussion on the selection of an architect to plan a city auditor ium, which the association has adopted as the memorial .for Sa lem's World War II dead. Officers stressed that at everr stage of planning the public will be encouraged to participate with, suggestions and volunteer assistance. Cannery Cited In Court Suit A suit filed tn Marion county circuit court Tuesday by Jona thon Levi Co.. Inc.. against Kol stad Canneries. Inc.. of Silver ton, seeks return of 1S.32S al legedly paid by plaintiff for can ned goods which, according to the suit, turned out to be not the kind ordered. The Levi company, a New York corporation, alleged it had ordered 1.500 cases of "fancy pumpkin" in No. lVt cans in August, 1948 from the cannery. When the cases were delivered and sampled,, the complaint stated, the pumpkin was found to be of a sub-srtndard grade." According to the plaintiff, the Kolstad company refused to can cel the sale.
