' Mr. and Mrs. Chandley Brown, Mr. and Mrs. Werner Brown, Dr. and Mrs. Harold Olinger and Mr. and Mrs. James Walton will make up a party at the game and preceding will join the Robert Bishops of Portland for luncheon at the Town club. ' Another group of rooters in clude Mr. and Mrs. Edward Roth, Mr. and Mrs. William T. Water man, Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Potts, Dr. and Mrs. Robert Joseph and Mr. and Mrs. Leon Perry. Dr. and Mrs. Charles Wood, Dr. and Mrs. John R. Wood, Mr. and Mrs. A. W. Louckg, Mr. and Mrs Frank Shafer and Mr. and Mrs. Conrad Paulson will be among those attending the game. Mr. and Mrs. Harry Schenk will join friends in Portland for the game. Mr. and Mrs. Walter Kirk and their University of Oregon coed daughter, Janet, will go to Portland for the game where they will be joined by Douglas David' son, who is attending the Univer sity of Oregon Medical school. Mr. and Mrs. John Steelham mer and Mr. and Mrs. Charles Barclay will be among the rooters as will Mr. and Mrs. James H Nicholson, jr., and Mr. and Mrs, Robert DeArmond. Another four some will include Mr. and Mrs T. J. Brabec and Mr and Mrs John Kelty. Mr. and Mrs. William Shinn will be among the rooters at the game and will be joined by Mr. and Mrs. Howard Beavert of Cor vallis. The Lansing Neighbors Garden club met Thursday at the home of Mrs. Ballard on Evergreen ave nue for a one o'clock luncheon. The afternoon was spent in plan ning the program for the coming ear and Mrs. Ethel Lermon wax voted a new member. Mrs. Rassell Wolff of San Fran cisco returned to her home by plane Tuesday. She was a guest at the Roy Simmons home Mon day night and also visited with the Charles Barclays. Mrs. Wulff has been in Portland at the James Bennison home the past week. Mrs. Wulff, Mrs. Barclay and Mrs. Bennison were Pi Beta Phi sor ority sisters at the University of Oregon. Mrs. J. N. Bishop has retained from a stay in Eureka, Calif., with her brother-in-law and sis ter, Mr. and Mrs. Jay Willard. While there Mrs. Bishop's niece, Miss Harriet Willard, was mar ried at a church ceremony. Richard Taw, whe received his bachelor of arts degree at the University of Oregon in June, has returned to the university to study for his master's degree in business administration. Official Will Be Speaker At Banquet The annual department con ference of the American Legion auxiliary being held in Portland Thursday and Friday of this week at the Portland Legion post audi torium will be attended by women throughout the state. Mrs. Charles Gilbert of Nor wich, Connecticut, past national president, will speak at the pub lic relations banquet Thursday at 7 p. m. at the Congress hotel. Attending the conference from Capital Unit No. 9, Salem, will be Mrs. Leon M. Brown, Junior de partment past president and na tional committee woman of the de partment of Oregon; Mrs. Stanley Krueger, department girls state chairmna; Mrs. I. N. Bacon, de partment radio chairman; Mrs. Merle D. Travis, president of Capital unit No. 9, and Mrs. Mal colm Cameron, secretary. Engagement Revealed The engagement of Miss Jean Van Nortwick, daughter of Mrs. Rosie Stevens of Great Falls. Mont., and. Fred Pfenning, son of Mr. and Mrs. Otto Pfenning of Salem is being announced today. Miss Van Nortwick is employed at the state tax department and her fiance at the Oregon Pulp and Paper company. No plans have been made for the wedding. Junior Women Fete Guests The Salem Junior Woman's club held a social meeting and rush party Monday night at the club house. Mrs. Perry T.
