Spaulding pre sided at a One o'clock luncheon Monday afternoon at her Court street home for her club and a croup of additional guests. Bridge w-as in play during the afternoon. The dining table was covered with a Mexican cloth in shades of pink and lavender on a black background with a centerpiece of silver candelabras , holding pink and orchid tapers encircled with bud vases of orchid rhododen dron blossoms. Other orchid rho dodendrons, were used about the rooms and on the individual ta bles. Covers were placed for Mes cames E. E. Boring. Custer Ross, Guy Hickok, A. A. Schramm. Adoption of the revised constitu tion and by-laws, the annual re ports of the, president, her offi jpers, and committee chairmen ' highlighted the business session. BPW Club to Hear Mr. Franzen Members nad friends" of Salem's Business and Professional Wom en's club will have an opportunity to become better informed con cerning the city-manager type of government when Salem's City Manager J. L. Franzen speaks on that topic at the club's month ly dinner at Nohlgren's restaur rant tonight at 6:30 o'clock. Mr. Franzen will outline a brief his tory of the city-manager type of government relate its functions, and describe the benefits to be derived from this type of govern ment The program is under the direction of Dorothy Cornelius and her public affairs committee. Music for the dinner will be pro vied by Mrs. Ralph Cole, who, accompanied by Mrs. Lois Plum mer Schmidt, will sing a group of vocal solos. The executive board met at the home of President Carmalite Weddle Saturday night. A buffet dinner preceded the business meeting at which the following new members were voted into the club: Mrs. Lillian litfistow, Mrs. Monnie Hauser and Mrs. Emily S. Smith. Following the meeting the board motored to Monmouth where they attended the reception at Jessica Todd hall given by the faculty of the Oregon College of Education. Randall, who is leaving by plane Saturday for Oakland to be with her daughter until ocmmeneementMIss Ran dall's sister, Joan, her grandpar ent":, Mr. and Mrs. B. M. Ran dall, and her fiance, John John son, will also go south lor the graduation, leaving June 7. Miss Randall and Mr. Johnson will be married on June 28 in Salem at the First Presbyterian church. Mr. and Mrs. Van Wieder will also go south for the graduation of her daughter. Miss Campbell. The Wieders will d$ve south on June 5, returning north with Miss Campbell immediately after the commencement Both Miss Ran dall and Miss Campbell have been attending Mills college on scholar' ships. Miss Carter Will Wed in June Mr. and Mrs. Sam Carter are announcing the engagement and approaching marriage of their daughter. Miss Nelda Faye Car ter, to Thomas J. Morris, son of Mr. and Mrs. A. J. Morris of Fort Smith, Arkansas. The wedding is planned to take place In June. Miss Carter is a graduate of Salem high school and attended Oregon State college. The couple will live in Salem, .where both are employed. Mrs. Rowland to Sail for Korea Mrs. Quentin R. Rowland (Adele Frey) has received her final port call to leave for San Francisco Sunday, from where she will sail on June S for Korea to join First Lieutenant Rowland. While Mrs. Rowland has been awaiting orders she has been with her mother, Mrs. Elsa Frey. Fri day night a group of Mrs. Row land's friends will call at the Frey home to say au revoir. Visitors In the eapital are Cap tain and Mrs, Frederick Ellis, jr. (Elaine Murray) of Sacra mento, Calif., who are guests of their parents, Mr. and Mrs. J. S.
