' Middle Grove The 2 year old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Pickeral received a pain ful cut on the forehead when she was accidentally thrown down, striking her head on a cement step at the schoolhouse Friday night. .Macleay Young Grangers will meet at the grange hall Thursday, May 22, at 8 p.m. Pedee The Clinton Ruiter family has moved to the J. P. Simpson farm near Ritner station for a few weeks and then will go to their new place in Dallas. The Lester Lunds moved from the Simpson house to the Ruiter house at Simpsons camp. J. P. Simpson is having the farm house rebuilt before they move into it when Ruiters move. Gervais Mrs. Earl Rondeau underwent an operation at St. Vincents hospital, Portland, a few days ago and is recovering. Pedee Mr. and Mrs. Ellis Campbell and family have mov ed from Ritner creek to a house at the Leadbetter camp. Pedee William Birchell and son Richard are at Yakima, Wash., on a business trip. Gervais Mr. and Mrs. Lee Cutsforth of Portland, Mrs. Wil liam Moore and daughter Shirley called at the' home of their cousin, Mrs. Robert Harper, Friday. Jefferson Elmer and Harold Knight have sold their garage after being in business for 27 years. New owners are Frank Chatas and Cecil Baum of Salem. They will have the same busi ness with the addition of repair ing cars. Knight Brothers reserved the building. Knights opened up the garage in 1920 on their re turn from World War I and in 1932 moved to the new concrete building on the highway. They plan a vacation but have no definite plans for the future. Hubbard The Woman's club will hold the last business meet ing of the year at the home of Mrs. A. J. Smith when a dem onstration, "Care and Use of New Textiles," will be given by Mar jorie Tye White. The annual party will be held June 4 at Wills Colonial house and members are asked to bring gifts to be used as prizes. Pedee Pupils of the third and fourth grades and the teacher,' Mrs. Earl.Creson, made a trip to the Oregon State college museum Friday. Gunderson and a former Silverton attorney. has had his surname legally changed to Palston. He is prac ticing in Portland but is a guest of the Gundersons for a few days. Mrs. Gunderson just returned home after major surgery at the Silverton hospital. Silverton Senior Rirl Scouts of Troop 6 visited McLaughlin house in Oregon City Saturday. History of the house was ex plained to the girl?, who included Diana Hobart, Mariljn Well sandt, "Lorraine Knhlmcicr, Mar jorie Leonard, Betty DePeel, La Velle Orrin, Leila Miles, Sharon George, Louise Hoblitt. and the three adults, Mrs. Mahlon S. Hob litt, Mir. John George and Mrs. Ross Winslow. Bethel J. M. Nichols and daughter, Mrs. J. A. Hain. have had as their guests Mr. and Mrs. E. L. Jameson of Nyssa. Oregon. The families were friends in Ok lahoma many years ago. Silverton Mr. and Mrs. Harold Deneke (Doris Whitlock) are an nouncing the birth of a daughter at St. Joseph's hospital in Van couver May 13. This is the first child of the Denekes. Grandpar ents are Mr. and Mrs. Lester Whitlock of Salm, formerly of Silverton and Mr. and Mrs. J. Deneke of Mt. Angel. Valley Obituaries George Carroll Nolan SILVERTON Funeral services for George Carroll Nolan, 84, were held Saurday in Valley View cemetery with the Rev. B. F. Browning of the Methodist church officiating. Nolan died in Portland Thurs day. He was born July 1, 1883, in Rochester, N. and came here eight months ago. Survivors are the widow, Kathleen Nolan, Sil verton; brother, William Nolan, and sister, Mrs. Eugene Flemming of Rochester, N. Y. William M. Ingram STAYTON, May 19 Funeral services for William M. Ingram, 92, who died Saturday noon at Silverton, will be held from Wed dle's Funeral home here Wednes day at 2 p.m. The Rev. William Buckner will officiate. Burial will be in Lone Oak cemetery. Born May 14, 1855, Mt Eadon, Eliza M. Christenson WOODBURN Funeral rites for Mrf. Eliza M. Christenson. former resident of Woodburn who died Friday at Pacific City, will at 2:30 p. m. Tuesday at Portland cre matorium and mausoleum, SE 14 th and By bee, Portland. Ringo mortuary Is in charge. The family asks that flowers be omitted. Mrs.- Christenson was a native of North Dakota.
