Silvcrton Hills Bond
Election to Be Monday
SILVERTON HILLS Silverton
Hills school district 83C will hold
an election Monday May 12, from
2 to 7 p. m. at the community
hall on bonds to build a new
school houseand provide grade
school transportation.
The district has bought a three
acre tract from June Drak near
Drake's. Crossing on which to
erect the building if the vote
carries.
, This district .is comprised of the
former districts of Bridge Creek,
Davis, Hultt, Porter, Mt: View,
with school held in Porter and ML
View school houses.
Mrs. Edna Damewood, Porter
teacher, has been rehired for next
year. Mrs. Arthur Steinberger,
who taught at Mt View the past
term, has resigned, and Mrs. Vern
Hiskey will take her place.

publication ot 6,000 copies of a
bi-weekly pleasure guide io the
Rogue river valley.
The business, Round-the-Clock
Publications, is operated by R. W.
Pressier, 209 Oregon building,
who acquired the new firm from
Stuart Adams last month.
A 32-page semi-annual Salem
guidebook will be circulated later
through chambers of commerce
and other gaencies.
Bi-weekly pleasure guides sim
ilar to the 18-page Rogue river
folder will be prepared regarding
Coos Bay, Lake Taho, Nev., and
Sacramento valley, Calif., Press

tonight the number of war vet
erans claiming unemployment al
lowances fell to 872,000, a 1947
low, during the week ending
April 28.

stock market today finished a
generally losing week with mild
irregularities prevailing in one of
the -slowest and narrowest ses
sions of the past several years.
The Associated Press 60-stock
composite was up .1 of a point
Saturday, at 62.1 but on the week
showed a net loss of .9 of a point.
On the day Lion Oil was up 2
at 49. a new 1947 high, in fu

more than 5 cents at one time,
but a short-covering movement at
the close regained ail but a cent
