Liberty Street Truck Drivers' Traffic Advice In New Booklet Friendly truck drivers will cease -signalling for cars to pass them en the road, if they heed the advice in a 32-page, plain English booklet on "Highway Log Truck Safety" issued this week by Secretary of State Robert S. FarrelL jr. ; . "How do you know but that the guy is 'drunker'n a skunk.' . . . Don't stick your neck out,", the booklet advises. The phrasing throughout the little publication follows a similar pattern of lan guage: "give the pedestrian a break;" "don't bulldoze your way into stream of traffic;" "the ba sic rule" is the golden rule - for drivers;" "generally be a right guy." State Laws Condensed Applicable state laws are con densed in hte booklet, which also offers advice on handling equip ment, loading, coupling, rights-of-way and driving precautions. The booklet was prepared by Floyd Cook, former highway rep resentative of the Pacific North west Loggers' association; Ted Kepner, Crown Zellerbach safety engineer; F. B. Crandall, Oregon highway commission traffic en gineer, and Sid King, of the sec retary of state's traffic safety di vision. Williams, 2593 Maple ave illegal reverse turn, posted $2.50 bail. i 3Vc!i c Work Progressing On Broken Flume At Woolen Mills The broken water flume' which has suspended operations at Kay Woolen Mills since April 10 and thrown 120 workmen out of work there is expected to be back in working order by the first of next week, E W. Kay, president, said Thursday. When the paper mill flume burst at its Commercial street crossing some weeks ago. water was diverted from the Shelton ditch into the main Mill creek channel, thus cutting off water volume needed for the woolen mills' power supply, Kay said. Workmen this week were pour ing cement for the flume forms and the job is expected to be com pleted soon, he -added.
