university law school, will teach
a course in regulation of busi
ness thia- summer as a visiting
professor at ; Willamette, univer
sity college of law. ; ' ;
Addition of Strong to the sum
mer faculty was announced today
by Dean Seward P. Reese of the
local law college, who noted that
the appointee is an outstanding
authority on trade regulations.
The professor is a son of the late
Dr. Frank Strong who was presi
dent of; University of Oregon
from 1899 to 1902 and subse
quently until his death in 1934
was chancellor of the University
cf Kansas and constitutional law
professor at Kansas school of law.

Prof. Strong, a? Yale law grad
uate who was admitted to the
Iowa bar in 1938 .has since then
been on the Ohio State law fac-
ulty. He has conducted summer
courses as a visiting professor at
Duke. Northwestern, Michigan!
and Texas universities. While at '
Duke as a visiting professor in i
the regular 1940-41 school year,
he edited the , noted ! professional j
monthly, "Law and Contemporary
Problems.' '

Byron Randall, font of the
Kenneth Randalls of Mehama,
formerly of Salem, has returned to
the United States after eight
months u in employe of ; the
World News service, painting a
series of pictures of Yugoslavia
and Poland. j
The paintings and some etch
ings, in a new technique on War
saw scenes, will be exhibited at
the Ricardo Galleries from June
15 to August 1 at the ACA gal
leries in New York following that,
and later at the ACG j Galleries
in Hollywood. ;
.Randall, who received his edu
: cation in Salem and his early art
training here, has been doing pro
fessional painting for j the - past
several years. During the war he
was In the merchant marines.
Randall maintained his ' studio in
San Francisco and has returned
there to be with his wife, the for
mer Helen Nelson, and their
daughter, Gale.
His parents - have returned to
Mehama from a motor trip to San
Francisco to greet him.
Congress Seeks
Ford's Advice

Senator Taft (K-Ohio) disclosed
Wednesday that Henry Ford II,
grandson of the late industrial
wizard, wilt be asked on counsel

to testify. They have recently

his earlier plea of innocent to a
charge of assault with intent to
kill. He was arrested by city po
lice February 16, reportedly in
connection with the stabbing of
his wife on a downtown street.

bert Fern, 46, who was killed ac
cidentally in a sawmill accident
at his place here Tuesday. The
Rev. Fred Towne will conduct
rites at 2 p. m. In Dallas Christian
church, to be followed by inter
ment at Salem mausoleum. Hen-kle-Bollman
company is in charge.
Mr. Fern was proprietor of the
Hazel . Green Logging Co. For
merly a resident; of Dallas, he was
a member of the Dallas I OOF
lodge and was a member of the
Salem First Christian church.
He leaves a widow, Mary, and
two children. Alberta and Marcia,
at home; parents, Mr. and Mrs.
Henry Fern, Dallas; two sisters,
Mrs. Esther Weins of Fall City
and Mrs. Emma Bartel, Dallas;
six brothers, William of Rickreall,
Edward of Eugene and John, Emil,
Walter and Fred, all of Dallas.
