All-Oregon Dinner on Monday Event scheduled for Monday night for all University of Ore gon mother?, dads and alumni will be the covered dih dinner at the Legion hall. Chemeketa end North Cottage streets, at 6:30 o'clock. The purpose of the joint meet ing is to meet the new Oregon football coach, James Aiken, who will speak to the group. He will be accompanied . and introduced by President Harry K. Newburn of the university. Following the program and din ner a business meeting for the Oregon Mothers and Dads will follow. The mothers are plan ning a rummage sale for February 17 and 18 with proceeds to go to the scholarship loan fund. A spe cial gift table will be featured with all mothers and alumni ak ed to bring a gift. Those desiring information about the dinner are asked to call Mr. Walter Kirk. 7907, pre sident of the Oregon mothers. Iverson-Barnes Rites in Denver TURNER At rites solemnized January 4 in Denver. Colorado. Miss Brooks-ie Barnes, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Wallace L. Barnes of Turner, became the bride of Captain Edward S. Iverson. USMM, of Mill Valley, California. The ceremony was read at 4 o'clock in the chapel of historic Trinity Methodist church with the Rev. R. W. Marble officiating. Miss Barnes wore a costume of cocoa brown with elongated jacket and slight bustle effect. Her hat was a pill box model of matching shade cuffed with se quins. Her accessories were brown and she carried a brown fur top coat. Her corsage w.s of orchids. Following a honeymoon in Denver and Colorado Springs. Captain Iverson and his bride re turned to the coast for a brief visit before leaving Portland by plane for San Francisco where he will take his, ship. Mrs. Iverson, daughter of an Oregon pioneer family, is a grad uate of Salem high school, the Capital Business college and the Taylor St. Clinic and Laboratory in Portland. She was formerly with the state tax commission in Salem. Heart shaped molds or cookie cutters are in most every list of kitchen gadgets, and if not. , they're easy to find at the store. Jellied cranberry salad, molded fruit in strawberry or raspberry gelatine can be either jelled in heart shaped molds or allowed to ' congeal in a flat pan with heart shaped cookie cutters and placed on lettuce leaves. Even the biscuits can be cut in heart shapes. Red radishes can ; be used to garnish the meat, or if you are not using cranberries in your salad, a slice can be : placed on each plate to give the required red color. The main dish, if you really want to carry the Valentine idea to the menu, can be chicken or meat pies, topped with heart shaped pie crust. Beets are a good vegetable to use. Dessert could be heart shaped pieces of cake with strawberry ice cream, individual cherry or raspberry tarts cut heart shaped, or baked red apples with heart shaped cookies. Table decorations can be a nosegay of flowers, potted plant put on large heart shaped red ! paper outlined with lace paper ; doilies, or pussy willows arrang- ' ed in a vase and tied with red j ribbon. You could have place 1 cards even for the family, with j little effort, just to add gaiety to the occasion. Red tapers will help the gen-, i eral effect. Steiwers to Be Honor Guests Mr. and Mrs. W. H. Steiwer arrived in the cspital Friday af ternoon from tht-ir home in Fos sil. They will be here several days and will be the house guests of Senator and Mrs. Dean Walker at j their Independence home. Mr. Steiwer served as president of the ! senate several sessions ago. Mr. and Mrs. Ronald Jones will be hosts for a buffet supper party Sunday night at their country place on the Portland highway for the pleasure of Mr. and Mrs. Steiwer. Sixteen of the Steiwers' friends have been invited to the affair. Catholic Wedding Read February 2 WOODBURN St. Luke s Cath ' olic church was the scene of the mariage of Miss Marjorie Miller, ' daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Otto Miller, and Leo G. Miller, son of Mr. and Mrs. George Miller, i February 2. The Rev. V. L. Mof fenbeier read the service. Church decorations were acacia, daffo dils and pale pink snapdragons. Wedding music was pjayed by Mrs. E. S. Donnelly, and Bern ard Smith was soloist, j The bride's gown was white, with Juliet cap and long veil. She carried white rosebuds. Her father j gave her in marriage. Miss Betty I Miller was her sister's brides maid, wearing acqua nylon with : matching mitts. Her flowers were I pink rosebuds in a nosegay and she wore a garland in her hair. Gordon Thompson of Portland , was best man and ushers were i Dennis Miller, brother of the 1 bride, and Walter Scarborough, jr.. her brother-in-law. The bride's mother wore a black dress and the groom's a blue ! suit. They wore corsages of American Beauty roses. At the reception held at St. Luke's hall.
