Dc 18. 1148 Kotrofhl of 11 Jeannette Wieder At a lovely pre-holtdajr party Tuesday night for which Miss Car men Campbell wai hostess formal announcement was made of the engagement of Miss Jeannette Wieder. daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Van Wieder, to Kenneth Buchan an, son of Mr. and Mrs. W. M. Buchanan, all of Salem. Plans for the wedding of the young couple have not been made. The party was held at the Wied er home on North Summer street with a dessert supper following an evening of contract. Guests learned the news when the names of the betrothed couple were en scrtbed on the napkins and in dividual cakes. The rooms were festive with holiday decorations and randies. Saturday Saturday, December 21 has been set as the date for the wedding of Miss iKathryn Donaldy, daugh ter of Mr. and Mrs. Frank . Donaldy of Cleveland, Ohio, to Frank B. Fisher of Salem, son of Mr. andj Mrs. Mark K. Fisher of Canton, Ohio. Miss Donaldy ar rived in the capital by plane Sat urday. The nuptials will take place at the ' First Congregational church with the Rev. Seth Huntington of ficiating at the double ring cere mony at 3 o'clock. Reid Shelton will sing and Josef Schnelker will be the organist. Miss Ruth L. Cupp of Cleveland, who came west with the bride elect, will be her classmate's honor attendant Dean Melvin Geist will give the bride away. Bennet Lud den wil stand with the groom as best mn. A small reception will be held after the ceremony at the West Lefelle street home of Dean and Mrs. Melvin- Geist. After ! a short trip the couple will return to Salem for Christ mas and will be at home at the Sundberg apartments. Miss Donaldy is a graduate of Mt. Sinai hospital School of Nurs ing in Cleveland. During the war she served with the army nurse corps. Her fiance, who is assist ant professor of music at the Wil lamette university School of Mus ic, is a graduate of the University of Michigan. At the Salem General hospital on Monday, December 16 a little boy, John Leslie, was born to Mr. and Mrs. John T. Middlebrook. The boy weighed seven pounds and ten ounpes and is the grandson of Mrs. Lucille Mangun of Salem and Mr. and Mrs. I. W. Party After Musicale The Center street residence of Mr. and Mrs. Elmer O. Berg was the scene of an informal open house Tuesday night following the AAUW Christmas musicale. The affair was arranged in com pliment to the artists, officers of the Salem branch, AAUW, their husbands and wives. Mrs. Floyd L. Utter, president, presided at the punch bowl. The table was festive with a Snowman scene and ice skating figures. Holiday greens and candles dec orated the guest rooms. Yuletide Parties Slated Each day's mail brings forth more invitations to holiday par ties, which means it will be a gay season. Mr. and Mrs. John Caughell and Miss Josephine Baumgartner have sent invitations fo a large group of their friends to a holiday at home on Sunday, December 29. The af fair will be held at the Caughell residence on North Cottage street and calling hours. are from 5 to 9 o'clock. Also in the mail this week were invitations to a Christmas at home for which Mr. and Mrs. Paul Hendricks will be hosts at their Fairmoant Hill residence Monday, December 23. They have invited a few of their friends to call after six o'clock. Mrs. George Barnes will be a holiday hostess on Sunday, De cember 22 when she entertains with an informal at home at her Electric street residence. She has invited her friends to call between 8 and 8 o'clock. Mr. and Mrs. Frederick Lam port will be hosts for a holiday party Saturday night af their Ben Lomand park home. The Lam ports have invited twenty of their friends to a buffet supper-- with art informal evening following. Holiday greens and candles will be used about the rooms. Ladies of the Grand Army of the Republic will meet for a Christmas party and gift exchange today at the YWCA. A no-host luncheon will be served at noon.
