The Statt-smarj Every cook who makes it a hobby has favorite recipes and none ; $ are more favored than Christmas cookies "little cakes" to cooks of the old world. Many of my recipes for little cakes did come from j & European cooks of my acquaintance. Working on an oven door is good. Use hands and a wooden bowl for ease on mixing. Divide dough in quar- ers and pat to about '4 inch thick. Cut in fancy shapes, decorate with cake decorations if available. Bake at 300 degrees for 10 or 15 min utes, being careful not to get brown, as this scorches the butter and changes the flavor. Here is a very rich cookie which, if almonds are used, is quite expensive, but if walnuts are utilized is about as good and far less costly. MRS.
