here. She is a graduate of Okla
homa State Normal and also has
her masters degree.
Mary Ella Cary of Coquille,
graduate of Marylhurst college,
with graduate work at the Uni
versity of Oregon, will be girls
physical education instructor and
will also teach English. She has
teen a nurse for more than seven
years.

Eauas Jane McNea
ALBANY Emma Jane Mc
Neal, 80, died in the Albany Gen
eral hospital September 14 after
six weeks' Illness. Funeral serv
ices will be held at 3 p.m. Wed
nesday at the Fisher Funeral
home with the Rev. Orville Mich
in charge, with burial in River-
aide. Born August : 4. 1868. In
Chatham, Ontario, Canada, she
moved with her family to West
Stay ton j community in 1875. She
went to Silver! on in 1882 andj
later to Gervais. She came to
Aloany xrom GervaJs 40 years
ago and had made her home here
since. She was a member of the
Christian church.
Survivors, are a brother, E. L.
McNeal,- Ashland; three sisters,
Mrs. Ida Steele, Mrs.; Ada Media,
Albany, Mrs. Ellis i Walker of

Jersey Calf
As 4-H Prize

. Henry Zorn, Champoeg, one of
the pioneer members of the Mar
ion County Jersey Cattle club,
will 'donate the Jersey calf to this
year's winner of the 4 II club
prize. Arrangements for this were
made Sunday when 30 members
of the county club gathered at
the Herbert Coleman home in
West Woodburn. Floyd Bates,
president, and O. C. Welsh sec
retary, both of Salem, were in
charge of the meeting.
A committee, including William
Schwarz, Silverton; Albert Cline,
AurrTsville; Fred Davis, Wood
bum; Bob Clark, Aurora; Otto
Beaty, Salem; and Stanley Riches,
Turner, will assist Jim Bishop,
4-H county leader, in selecting
the club member eligible for the
calf. Bishop said the club year
was completed. The winner is
selected through points won in
the season's club work.
Bates reported that the Ladd &
Bush bank wijl furnish the cup
for the winner at the spring Jer
sey show. This cup goes to Ron
ald Barnick, reports show.
New classifications for the 4-H
members in the spring show were
also discussed Sunday with a
number of cattle club members
urging that the calf groups and
the junior and senior yearling
form the junior championship
class and all others the senior
class; Final decision will be made
prior to the 1947 show.
Assisting Mrs. Coleman in ar
ranging the no-host dinner Sun
day were Mrs. Bates and Mrs.
Stanley Riches, the latter of Tur
ner. Members of the club speot

For its October meeting, club
members accepted the invitation
to the Henry Zorn ranch at Champoeg.

as executive secretary of the Mar
ion County Health association at
a meeting of the executive board,
following the resignation of Mrs.
Leif Bergsvik. Mrs. Stanley Krue
ger will succeed Mrs. Bunnell as
office secretary and Mrs. A. .11.
Wilson has been engaged as an
additional office worker.
Mrs. Bergsvik, who has been
secretary for the past three and
a half years, gave illness in the
family as the reason for her resig
nation. Mrs. Bunnell has been of
fice secretary for three years.

ion county school districts with
school district No. 23 of Elgin wan
upheld by the state supreme court
in an opinion Tuesday.
The court granted petitions few
rehearing in the Multnomah coun
ty cases of Ulrich vs. Lincoln
