Zom to Give Jersey Calf As 4-H Prize By Llllie L. Madsen Farm Editor, Th Statesman . Henry Zorn, Champoeg, one of the pioneer members of the Mar ion County Jersey Cattle club, will 'donate the Jersey calf to this year's winner of the 4 II club prize. Arrangements for this were made Sunday when 30 members of the county club gathered at the Herbert Coleman home in West Woodburn. Floyd Bates, president, and O. C. Welsh sec retary, both of Salem, were in charge of the meeting. A committee, including William Schwarz, Silverton; Albert Cline, AurrTsville; Fred Davis, Wood bum; Bob Clark, Aurora; Otto Beaty, Salem; and Stanley Riches, Turner, will assist Jim Bishop, 4-H county leader, in selecting the club member eligible for the calf. Bishop said the club year was completed. The winner is selected through points won in the season's club work. Bates reported that the Ladd & Bush bank wijl furnish the cup for the winner at the spring Jer sey show. This cup goes to Ron ald Barnick, reports show. New classifications for the 4-H members in the spring show were also discussed Sunday with a number of cattle club members urging that the calf groups and the junior and senior yearling form the junior championship class and all others the senior class; Final decision will be made prior to the 1947 show.
