June Young Betrothed Taking the romantic spotlight today is Miss June Florette Young, attractive brunette daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Hubbell Young, whose engagement to Stanley Ralph Underwood, son of Mr. and Mrs. Stanley King Underwood of Los Angeles, was revealed Saturday night. It was at a get-together of a group of college girls home for the summer, at the Paul Acton home that the news was told. Hostesses for the party were the bride elect and Miss Jane Acton. Guests were invited to a 7:30 o'clock dessert supper and' were seated at small tables centered with tx&quets of roses, white iris and sweet peas. Preceding the essert hour the hostesses played . a recording of a 'clever poem which told the hetrothal news. Thj; evening hours were spent informally. Her fiance, who has been taking his NROTC training at Oregon State j college, was released last weekend from tlie nav y. He is attending the summer session at Oregon State. Alfred Long of C'loverdale. The bride-to-be is the daughter of Mrs. Km ma Friesen and George Friesen of Eiigerie. No date has been set for the wedding. The luncheon was held at the F riesen home on Mai ion street. The individual tables were centered w ith nosegays of pansies. On a larger table was an engagement ring with the names of the engaged couple, which told the news. CfaVers were placed for the bride-elect, her mother, Mrs. Emma Friesen, Mrs. Darrel Parnell, Mioses Lois Riedesel, Delia and Vera Merk, Elsie Janzen, Ruby and Opal Friesen. Miss Friesen is a graduate of Salem high school and is employed in the office of the Oregon Pulp and Paper Co. Her finance is a graduate of Tillamook high school and was recently discharged from the navy. He is now In buifnebs with his fattier at the Cloverdale Cheese factory.
