A covered dish dinner was served at a table decorated with spring flowers and centered with a birthday cake. Others present were Mr. and Mrs. J. H. Parker ALBANY, May 6 -CSpecial)-Graveside services In Masonic cemetery were held last week for Walter M. Parker, who died at his Newport home April 26. Local services were by Knights of Pyth ias lodge of which he was a 50 year member. Born in Clackamas county, near Oregon City, on Aug. 24, 1866, Walter Parker had spent his en tire life in Oregon. He was in the grocery business at Albany before moving to Newport several years ago. He married Bertha T. Martin who died in 1938. Survivors are children, Mrs. Alzina E. Corson of Newport, Edmund Parker of Portland; two grandchildren and one great grandchild; a brother.. Thomas Parker of Cottage Grove; sister, Mrs. Nina Ortel of Spo kane; and several nieces and nephews, among whom are Mrs. Francyl Howard, Mrs. Jack Fink, and George Parker, all of Albany, and Mrs. John Whittemore of Salem. Valley Births FREQUENT, CONVENIENT LOCAL SERVICE SILVERTON, May 6 -(Special) Born at the Silverton hospital May 2, a daughter to Mr. and Mrs. Mario Fisher of Sublimity; a son to Mr. and Mrs. Anonthy Perillo, and a daughter to Mr. and Mrs. David Scharer. MILL CITY, May 6-(Special) Mr. and Mrs. Charles Kelly are the parents of a 6 pound son, John Charles, born April 28 at the Deaconess hospital in Salem. A son was born to Mr. and Mrs. Glen Rogers at the Deacon ess hospital in Salem May 1. Tribute Paid Jacob Kaiser MT. ANGEL, May 6-(Special) AH business houses were closed Wednesday for the Jake Kaiser funeral. He had been in the real estate business here for 22 years and died suddenly April 27 of a heart attack. The Rev. Albert Bauman, OSB, a nephew, officiated at the sol emn requiem mass in St. Mary's church. The Rev. Vincent Kop- ert, OSB, and the Rev. Hilde- brand' Melchior, OSB, were dea con and. subdeacon, and the Rev. Damian Jentges, OSB, gav.o the sermon. Father Albert conducted the graveside services. Honorary pallbearers included Mayor Jacob' Berchtold, G. D. Ebner, F. J. Schwab, Douglas Harris, Alois Keber and Frank Hettwer. Active pallbearers were nephews of Mr. Kaiser and were: Aelred Berning, Ivo Bauman, Lloyd Berning, Gerald Zollner, Carl Dyer and Prosper Berning. Interment was in Calvary ceme tery with Unger Funeral home in charge of all arrangements. Two brothers and two sisters were here for the funeral. Walter Kaiser, St. Paul, Minn.; Lawrence Kaiser of Madison, S. D ; Mrs. Jean Braun of Wahpeton, N. D., and Mrs. E. Gallant of Astoria. One brother from St. Paul was unable to attend. Survivors are the widow, Hen rietta Kaiser; three daughters, Myra, Ruth and Irma. Yank Legion Plans Silverton Unit SILVERTON. May 6 -(Special) Meeting of World War II veter ans, men and women, is called for Monday night. May 13, in the Knights of Pythias hall for the purpose of organizing a Yank Le gion post. D. A. Pine of Portland and W. C. Miller of Vanport, world vets. have been-here this week making arrangements. Local officers will be elected at the May 13 meeting and a char ter set up.
