Marsden of Los Angeles, for merly of Salem, and the lata Rev. Mr. Marsden, to Miss Carol Wyeth, daughter of Mrs. Helen Skmner Wyeth an J Mr. H. B. Wyeth, jr, of Pasadena, Calif. The news was revealed on March 13 at a luncheon for which the bride-elect was host ess in honor of Mrs. Cornelius Ayer Wood jr., of Fairhaven, Mass. The heart shaped center piece was made of pink carna tions and tulips. Miss Wyeth is a graduate of the Katharine Branson School at Ross, Calif., and attended Smith college. She is a member of the Pasadena Junior league. Mr. Marsden, who has often ' visited in Salem at the home of his brother-in-law and sister, Mr. and Mrs. Leon Perry, at tended the University of Ne braska. He is now associated with Earl Condon, Inc., in Los Angeles. The wedding fs plan ned for the late spring. Mrs. Perry was in the south for the announcement party. She is visiting at the Marsden home and expects to return liome in ApriL Miss Pratt Welcomed Home Mbs Marjorie Pratt, who has Just returned horn after two years of service with the WAVEs v-ai honored at a "welcome hme" party Wednesday night when her sister. Miss Pauline Pr-tt, entertained at the Pratt home on South 13th street. Arrangements of daffodils provided the decorative note - about the rooms. Refreshments were served following an in formal evening. Honoring Miss Pratt were Mr. end Mrs. Alfred Down, Jr., Mr. end Mrs. Thad Marker, Mr. and Mis. Mits Marjorie Pratt took her b training at Hunter college, K Y., and for seventeen months was stationed at Mercer Field, Tifanton, New Jersey. Later she was stationed in New York City. Before entering the service she jxrrit two years in Seattle at Boeing aircraft. The Pratts have a son, Paul, Ji . herring with the army air C'Upa in Germany. BPW Party at Nurses Home The nurses' home of the Ore gxi tuberculosis hospital was the - a me of an informal gathering of the Salem Business and Pro fessional Women's club Tuesday. Prime, jr., go congratulations on the birth of a son, William Rob ert, on March 20 at the Emanuel hospital In Portland. The baby's grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. L. R. Jamieson of Portland and Dr. and Mrs. Frank V. Prime, sr., of Salem. The little boy has a two year old brother, Frank, III. Major Prime, who Just re turned to the states from the South Pacific and Japan, is now on terminal leave. His wife and son have been living in Salem during his absence and they ex pect to continue their residence here. President Coming For Visit The national president of the auxiliary to the United Spanish War Veterans will visit in Salem for three days beginning April IS according to announcement made at a meeting of Hal Hib bard auxiliary held Monday night at VTW hall. Mrs. Willow Evans and Mrs. Pearl Kinzer were named delegates to the na tional convention to be in Mil waukee, Wise, in August, Two half-scholarships to the 4H club summer school at Corvalis were voted during the meeitng. The annual sale of McKinley poppies was -announced for April 12 and 13, and Mrs. Ellen Thompson was appointed chair man. The color team will practice April 1 at 7 p.m. Mrs. Roth Fetes Visitors Mrs. Emil J. Roth was hostess for an informal party Thursday night at her home in honor of her nephew and niece, Sgt. and Mrs. Noel Holman of Hillsboro. Sergent Holsman. who is in the regular army, ha been stationed in Hawaii for nine years and showed movies of the Islands. Later in the evening refresh lent were served by the hostess. Kearns, will become the bride of Mr. Aaron C. Whitney, son of Mr. and Mrs. A. C. Whitney of Ya kima, Wash., at a lovely cere mony .tonight at the First Pres byterian church at 8 o'clock. The Rev. Chester W. Hamblin will officiate at the nuptials be fore a setting of spring flowers and white tapers. Candles will also be arranged in the-windows. Lighting the tapers will be Mrs. Donald Anderson and Miss Ber tha Rustad, who will wear blue and pink gowns. Miss Grace Ashford will sing "Because" and Miss Lois Kearns will play a violin solo, "On Wings of Song," with Mrs. D. B. Kleihege the accompanist. Mrs. Ralph Dobbs will be the organist. The bride, who will be given in marriage by her father, has chosen a white satin bridal gown. The full skirt terminates in a train and the bodice is de signed with a lace yoke and panel and lace sleeves. Her train length tulle veil is edged in lace and will fall from a coronet of satin and lace. She will carry an arm bouquet of calla lilies. Miss Lois Kearns will be her slater's maid of honor and will wear a robin's egg blue silk dress and carry pink rosebuds. Mrs. Guy Haymond, the bride's other sister, will be bridesmaid and wear a peach taffeta own and carry blue iris. Attend the Groom Mr. Leland Van Wechel of Yakima will stand with the groom as best man and seating the guests will be Mr. David Gerig and Mr. George Whitney. For her daughter's wedding Mrs. Kearns has chosen a navy blue crepe gown with matching accessories and a corsage of gardenias. Mrs. Whitney will wear a navy blue crepe ensem ble with navy accessories and corsage of gardenias for her son's nuptials. ;The newlyweds will greet their guests at - a reception in the church parlors after the ceremony. Mrs. Chester W. Hamblin will cut the bride's cake and Mrs. George Whitney of Yakima will cut the groom's cake. Mrs. Chester Vetter of Yakima will preside at the punch bowl.
