Waitowazuti group met at the home of their guardian, Mrs. E. T. Hartwell. Two guests, Joan Fabry and Shirley Page attend ed the meeting. The BB Blue Birds met with their leader, Mrs. O. V. Hume, Thursday. The girls are working on name pins. Twelve girl attended the Thursday Blue Bird meeting at the Christian church. Elected were Darlene Posten, president; Judy Peters, vice president and Kay Salter, scribe. Wakonkoda group, Mrs. F. C. Bell and Mrs. A. W. Zysset, as sisted in serving the noon lun cheon for the Polk county teach ers institute prepared by the West Salem Women's club. Tanda group presented a pro gram for their sponsors, the Richmond PTA group on Tues day, March 12. .Roberta Boyer, Clarine Woolery, Patty Ilalseth, Carolyn Seay, Beverly Kayser, Janice Feller and Carol Hewitt completed part of their Wood Gatherer requirement by partici pating. The others also partici pated. Tawasi group presented a United Nations program for the Richmond PTA March 12 and to their sponsors, the Vetera n'l of Foreign Wars auxiliary. At their meeting Thursday, the girls re ceived a first aid demonstration and Completed the bandage re quirements toward their Fire Maker's rank. The fifth grade group In West Salem, has selected Tanda as their group name. A new mem ber, Joan Jewell was welcomed at a meeting March 8. The Salem Heights Camp Fire group met with Mrs. Charles Hagemann, for a council fire. Taking part were Nancy Hage mann, Dolores Battles, Mary Jo Brown, Barbara Anderson, Luel la Carlisle and Mary Margt Honor beads were presented to the girls. Mrs. Hagemann was assisted by Mrs. E. A. Carleton. The Cozy Cottage Blue Bird group met with Mrs. E. M. Sy ring. The girls worked on sham rock place cards. WEST SALEM Plans for the city park were principal topic of conversation and business at Thursday's meeting of the King wood Garden club at the home of Mrs. Glenn Davenport, on Ruge street Mrs. Don Kuhn, presiderft, presided over the meeting. Five dollars from the club treasury was voted to the Red Cross. A St. Patrick's theme prevailed at the luncheon. The Ilayesvllle Woman's club will meet Thursday afternoon at 2 o'clock with Mrs. William Brietzke at her home on Clax ter Road. Mrs. G. C. Farmer will be the assisting hostess." Mrs. Helen Kimble explain ed the needs for assistant county agents for extension work in Mar ion county and asked the group to support the project ; A committee of four. The Community club sponsors the local 4-H clubs.; The pictures for the school rooms were presented by Mrs. J. C. Carl Bethell NORTH SANTIAM, March 18 (Special) Mr. and Mrs. Vern Busch of Salem and Mr. and Mrs. Torn Mahoney and family of Okla homa City, Okla., were guests on Wednesday for Mrs. Carl Bcthell's birthday Thursday. Mrs. Bethell's mother Mrs. Emma Busch and family of Scio surprised Mrs. Be thell by bring supper in honor of her birthday. School Building Plans Delayed Over Orecon High construction sosts and ma terials shortage are delaying post war construction projects in most of the state's school district, according to D. A. Emerson, of the state educational department, who recently returned from a tour of the state during which he con tacted many school district boards. He said the school district con struction program involved a to tal expenditure estimated in ex cess of $40,000,000. Figures tabulated by Emerson show that bond issues and sink ing funds earmarked for school construction now total more than $20,000,000 of which approximate ly $5,000,000 will be expended in the city of Portland. Fnerson also reported a serious housing situation involving school operating personnel. In some school districts, he said, the housing shortage had made it necessary for the school boards to provide living accomodations for teachers in their school plants. Orchard Family Visits Coats in Atimsville AUMSVILLE, March 18 (Spec ial) Mr. and Mrs. Charles L. Martin, of Salem, visited at the Lula Fuson home Wednesday. Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Coats, Vonda and David, spent the weekend at Orchards, Wash., vis iting Mrs. Coat's Mother, Mrs. Elva E. Scott. Mrs. Scott received a stroke last August and has jieen failing fast the last few weeks. On their return trip the Coats stopped at the home of their daughter, Mrs. Kenneth Khuns. Small Sunnyside Girl Honored on Birthday SUNNYSIDE, March 18 (Spe cial) Little Lou Anne Wain, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Kehne Wain, celebrated her second birth day with a party at the home of her parents. The traditional white birthday cake and green favors decorated the little table. Honoring Lou Anne were Gary Barker, Nancy Lee Welty, Steph anie Anderson, Curtis Anderson.
