Steels; Retail Stores, Planes Show Advance NEW YORK, Dec. l9(JPy- Steels, retail stores and aircraft generally advanced fractions to around a point in today's stock market but there were plenty of unchanged and fractionally lower Issues. The feeling in Wall Street was that the sharp selloff on Monday served as a substantial technical correction of the recent advance to 15-year highs. Tax selling still appeared, however. The Associated Press 60-stock composite declined .1 of a point to 74.8 of 888 Issues dealt in, 472 advanced, 231 declined and 163 were unchanged. Volume aggre gated 970,000 shares against 1, 350,000 yesterday. General American investors hit a new yearly top on an increased dividend payment announcement. Julius Kayser followed the same example on a stock splitup pro posal. N.Y. Central and American News also touched an annual peak during the session. Grains Mark Dull Session CHICAGO, Dec. 19 The light business in grain futures straddled the market in a dull session today and prices dragged out about where they started, with fractional gains and losses. Trading generally was in the nature of evening up commit ments on December deliveries in which . no transactions may - be made after the close of business tomorrow. A few commission houses bought December rye somewhat actively in early deal ings to cover short commitments and the price climbed as much as 3V cents a bushel before more general liquidation came in, forc ing a decline. Wheat closed unchanged from the previous finish, December $1.80 'i; corn unchanged at $1.18j ceilings; oats cent low er to 3a higher, December 78; rye unchanged to lower, De cember $1.81 i-H. barley un changed to lower, December $1.22'i.
