ISIS " Horrors of Dachau Told At Nazi Trial By Charles Chamberlain DACHAU, Germany, Nov; 16 JF- An inmate who survived Dachau concentration camp today accused guards and officials of tortues and murders, of bleaching human heads for souvenirs, and skinning human bodies to make handbags for their -women.: The witness, Dr. Frani Blaha, identified 17 of the 40 Dachau war crimes defendants in six hours of testimony which fre quently evoked gasps from the packed courtroom. The slight Czechoslovakian phy sician, first former Dachau in mate to testify, charged that: Fifteen thousand persons died of typhus, but prison doctors were forbidden to report an epidemic because officials "didn't want a quarantine." Naked prisoners were made to stand in line in front of the hos pital for hours, in all kinds of weather, while doctors examined them to see jf they were able, to work. This lineup was called the "slave market." Scores of inmates were given nothing but salt water for five days to see what effect it would have on them. Stok Market Rises to New 14-Year Peak NEW YORK, Nov. 16-(i-Stocks went through the 1937 bull market high by a nose today and touched a peak since 1931 as buy ers pushed up leaders in virtually all departments 1 to more than . 4 points. Dealings were lively from the tart although the pace slowed af ter midday and extreme gains were reduced in many cases at the close. Demand alternated be tween rails, steels, gold mines, utilities, motors and coppers. Transfers of 2,340,000 shares com pared with 2,010.000 Thursday and were among the largest for the year. I Southern Pacific's' boosted dis bursement again aided carriers. Standard Gas preferreds jumped 3',4 to 7 points on word the com pany i would seek to alter its amended reorganization plan. Mo . tors were spurred by the OPA ' grant of an "interim' price in crease for more trucks and an unexpectedly, pleasing Chrysler earnings compilation. The Associated Press 60-stock composite was up .3 of a point at 75.4, a top since April 14, 1931. Both rails and industrials were at highs for nearly nine years. Of 1,012 issues appearing,. 589 ' advanced and 239 declined. Track Workers Declared Needed By Rail System A critical need for track work ers to replace the thousands of Mexican nationals returning to their homeland with war's end was voiced this week by L. B. McDonald, vice president in charge of operations for South ern Pacific company. Replacements must be found. It was pointed out, to carry on vital track maintenance work Laborers are also wanted in the railroad's shops and supply de partment. In addition, thousands of skill ed workers are badly needed bv Southern Pacific, it was stated to help meet the huge transporta tion job resulting from the return and redeployment of troops and , reconversion of plants to peace ; time activity. In particular de mand in this category are me : chanics, brakemen, switchmen, i signalmen and bridge and build ing carpenters. Containinq is offered hj your grocer.
