This is what Mobilgas dealers art- telling motorist of Salem and vicinity. By this-they mean that It's not only time to shake the moth ball out of furs and woolens, dig slickers from the closet and appraise the winter fuel supply, but it's time, they say, to check up and j service the hot- weather-groggy auto and give it a chance to withstand bad weather driving I ahead. 1 'Too i few motorists," ; declares H. A. Simmons,! Mobilgas and Mo- biloU distributor In : this area, "realize the damage that can be caused j by neglecting to service cars properly before rough winter weather sets hi i ! ? "It Is particularly Important that the proper weight lubricant be used that the season demands. Right now, before cold weather appears, a motor oil is required which will! flow readily when the motor Is started on cold mornings and gear lubricants are . needed that will follow : and cushion gears, make shifting easier and cut down stralrj and drag. Heavy summer oils and "greases may stiffen with the cold and afford improper lubrication of vital parts with subsequent, breakdowns and repair bills. f g : "Car - manufacturers naturally intensely Interested in the per formance of their respective prod ucts stress the need for periodic - ' protective services i sucn as re packing wheel bearings, changing transmission and differential lu bricants and motor oil, chassis lu brication, flushing cooling sys tern, renewing oil filter and gen erally j checking and servicing other vital parts of the automo bile. "So you see that this seasonal check up of cars is important This we call Winter-proofing, and Mobilgas dealers are equipped to give this vital service which Is a wise precaution to help keep your car on the lob until new ones are available.
