assigned to handle navy security

the end of the war. It was his
duty to pass on publicity and sub
mitted news stories to check them
for military security. Two weeks
ago, the Saturday Evening Post
carried an article by Say on de
tails of the European landings.
. The tourist bureau work wDl
be immediately revived under
Say. It has operated with reduced
appropriation during the war but
recently the highway commission
moved to increase the funds
available so that Oregon's tourist
advantages could be publicized.

and relaxation at this southern
California city's famed resort
hotels, now under army manage
ment. The veteran recently re
turned from eight months' over
seas duty in Europe, including
five months as a prisoner of war.

an active part in the club pro
grams, which Included most of the
official army programs in London
and' paris, as well as 5 concerts,
shows in hospital wards and Red
Cross clubs, and radio broadcasts.
The citation reads: "These vol
untary efforts have contributed
greatly to the entertainment; of
many military personnel, and
have enabled many British .and
Trench people the -opportunity of
gaining a ; better understanding
and appreciation of American cul

Kenneth Barnett
Home on Furlough
Visiting his mother, Mrs. Lu
cille Barnett, is Kenneth Barnett,
signalman third class in the naval
reserve, who , came home Friday
night to remain until November
6. Barnett has been in the armed
guard service since his entry into
the navy 37 months ago.
His ship has just returned from
a seven-month trip in the south
Pacific waters. He will return to
Camp Shoemaker for reassign
ment upon completion of his leave.
