Way to Release
From Army Service
Lt. Col. John Elliott arrived here
Tuesday from Camp Dix, NJ, en
route to Fort Lewis, Wash., where
ht will be released from military
service. He will resume his duties
with the state liquor commission,
1 with headquarters in Portland.

Logging Accidents -Numerous
in Dallas
DALLAS Lloyd Dunaway of
Falls City was treated at the Dal
las hospital for a crushed leg re
ceived while working for Pope &
Talbot Thursday. Saturday H. C.
Bradshaw, also employed by Pope
& Talbot, was treated at the Bar-
tell' hospital for severe laceration
of the head when a dead limb fell
and struck mm while railing a
tree. He is now at his home in
the Imperial apartments. Eric
Jaren was treated for a broken
toe at the Bartell hospital Wed
nesday.
Robert Johnson was brought to
the Bartell hospital Wednesday
with a fractured arm received
while fighting fire in the Willam
ette valley burn. He was later
transferred to the Deaconess hos
pital at Salem.
John Pike Leaves
For Seattle Post
Rev. John M. Pike, who was
ordained to the ministry at the
annual conference of the Evan
gelical church at Jennings Lodge,
will give his farewell to the
Fruitland congregation Sunday
morning, August 19.
The Rev. Mr. Pike was recent
ly graduated from Willamette
university and has been Salem
director of youth at the First
Evangelical church. He and Mrs.
Pike will leave soon for Seattle,
where he will be the pastor of
the Victory Heights Evangelical
church and a student at the Uni
versity of Washington. .
