Living Matf y ODisputes Settled by i Conciliation The conciliation service, UJ5. department of labor, received 1, 757 requests to mediate labor dis putes in ! the i 11 western states, Alaska and Hawaii, during the first sixi months of 1945, and set tied 1440 of them, or 81 per cent, it was announced Saturday in San Francisco bj . P. Marsh, regional directory of the service. Most of the disputes were settled without any work stoppage, ne saia. In Oregon during June the ser vice was asked to mediate 21 dis p u t e g , mediated 21 disputes, bringing' to 198 the total number of labor disputes settled by 'con ciliation in the state during the first six months of 1945. In the west the number of dis agreements between - labor and management dropped from 307 in May toj 259 in June, a decrease of 15 per cent.
