i -1 PAGE EIGHT Grain Futures Remain Firm; Some Rye Up -r .-. J ..is ' :. CHICAGO, July -9. -UP)" Most grain futures were firm, today al though hedge gelling pushed wheat downward near the close. December and May wheat closed fractionally higher, but July and September contracts were off slightly. Some rye futures made frac tional comebacks from last week's heavy losses, but the July con tract, restricted to closing out op erations, ; fluctuated over a 614 cent race and closed; to li to 1 cents a . bushel lower. Since the only trading permitted in July rye I was selling or short covering jjUTChases, small transactions changed prices greatly. Oats were independently strong rand corn and barley were firm most of the time. Bullish factors i In all pits were unfavorable wea i thef conditions in the corn grow i ingi and wheat harvesting areas, ' and reports that Europe will have the; worst crop this year since the I war started. j Wheat closed s lower to s j higner than the previous finish, I July $1.65, corn was unchan ged to 4 up, July $1.184, oats were to higher, July 66, i ryejwas down Wt to up , July $1.44Vi-$1.44, and barley was un changed to 1-22 higher, July $1.13. . j.
