the state agricultural department

These grades are permissive and
are the first official grades set up
for Oregon cherries. V The ' new
grades, set up on a temporary
basis, will expire December 31,
this year. They will be used dur
ing this period on a trial basis
and any changes found advisable
will be incorporated later into per
manent grades. The order, effect
ive June 21, sejts up one grade,
Oregon No. 1, ipt sweet cherries
and brining and! throws all cher
ries not meeting the requirements
of No. l's into Oregon unclassified.
Two grades, Oregon No. 1 and
No. 2, are set up for sweet cher
ries for canning, with all others
to be recognized as Oregon un

Changes in four Oregon quar
antines became effective Friday.
The Oriental fruit moth quar-;
a tine has been revised to include
only ihe Idaho counties of Canyon
and Owyhee and Jefferson county;
in Colorado, , as these two states
have set up intrastate quarantines
toft ptptect non-infested territory.;
The Oregon cherry , fruit fly :
quarantines, both intrastate and
interstate, have been, amended to
include in the infested territory
these areas: Asotin, Klickitat and
Yakima counties i in Washington;
Nez jperce and Kootenai counties
in Idaho; and Hood River and
Wasco counties in Oregon.
The fourth j revision is in the
European corn borer quarantine
and brings -under quarantine as
new territory the states, of Kansas
and Nebraska and three counties
in Te-nnessee: Sumner, Robertson
and Montgomery.
Fort Yukon, in Alaska, has a
