Jameson Today
I Slugging Didrikson
I Rated Slight, Edge
'v LOS ANGELES, . April
It will be slugger versus scientist
In tomorrow's 36-hole golf duel
between Babe Didrikson Zaharias
and Betty Jameson. The Babe,
former Texan who now makes her
home here,, hits the little white
pellet the proverbial mile, aver

the two-time national champion
from San Antonio, runs more to
accuracy than distance, making
up for lack of length with her
deadly approaches and puttsv "
However, Mrs. Zaharias' short
game, while not as precise v as
Betty's, is considerably abnormal.
The Babe has toured certain lo
cal courses in 64 and 65, and this
isn't done without sharp greens-
work. . ; ;
That's why local golf addicts
can see only a slight gleam of
hope for Betty in tomorrow's
match, the first of two the girls
are slated to play for the benefit
of the war veterans rehabilitation
fund of the Professional Golfers
association. They'll play a return
3 8 -holer in San Antonio later this
month.
In their only" previous meeting
way back In the semifinals of
the 1937 Texas open-Betty took
tne Babe, 5 up. Since then the
Babe has become increasingly se
rious about, golf. Miss, Jameson
won her national crowns in 1939
and 1940, but has played little
